If you can only carry rules out on threat of violence I would argue that its not me that is childish.
Rather than thinking what is better for everyone and doing what is being asked of you. That should be the extent of your effort. As long as you are doing what is asked of you you dont need to snitch to the authorities, its not your business.

It's debatable whether reporting it to the police is appropriate (depends on particular circumstances, I'd say) but the idea that other people acting in a way which potentially spreads a fatal virus around isn't everyone's business is bollocks.

Lead by example. I disappointed my family last week by saying it was not appropriate for myself and my kid to fly to attend xmas next week. So I cancelled. But maintained negative tests so that I could travel if it looked possible. I read alot of news to stay informed of what is going on in the weeks prior. I called it before Boris did. But then Im just some guy. Would I grass up my neighbours up for having a different view on things and maybe having their families round? To the OB? I doubt it. Would I call the police on them if I could hear something awful going on. Absolutely.

A neighbour of ours held a party mid the worst bit of the lockdown last May.
Not one person in the street has acknowledged them since.
The Gardai have no powera whatsoever here to do anything as regards large gatherings and parties. They can only ask that people would disperse and go home.
Nearly 900 people gathered in a car park on Saturday night in Cork.
People are doing whatever the hell they want. At least over there you have a way to control these situations.
