It was a protest against the manager's methods. No idea what those methods were.I'm no clearer about what the stand was all about from the Spain players.

Two names: Wiegman, James.Players starting to look really nervous and flakey. Can't see us getting back into this
Some players didn't like his style, felt there should be more and different training sessions. 15 signed an email to get him sacked. They withdraw from selection. The Spanish FA supported him, some changes were made so some players came back but were not selected, some stayed away, some who said they are up for selection were selected. What was the deal with the coach?
They missing any big players?
It's all been very vague publicly, although insiders are angry about it so must know more. Stuff to do with the manager overlooking emotional wellbeing and overwork/poor training methods. No sackings were called for, but coaching methods were queried iirc.I'm no clearer about what the stand was all about from the Spain players.
3 at the back looks a bit of an issue, midfield aren't giving enough options and Spain are right on them.
Oh christ. ITV have adverts AND Ian Wright.
The beeb doesn't start till 9.45
I've got chipolata, bacon and egg buns to make. And more problematically actually eating them!
In September 2022, 15 players sent the federation separate but identical emails asking not to be called up to the national team, citing a lack of professionalism that each player wrote had an "important effect on my emotional state and by extension my health." They demanded "a clear commitment to a professional project with attention paid to all the aspects needed to get the best performance of this group of players" in the email.
April
A handful of players felt optimistic about the progress in discussion with the federation, which included hiring more support staff and improved travel conditions plus more freedom during camp. Eight of the 15 players who sent emails in September, as a result, made themselves available for selection on the World Cup team. Three eventually made the cut -- Bonmati, Caldentey, and Batlle.
Yeh it needs to be more 3 going forward then 5 when defending. It works but needs to be well drilled with exceptional wingbacks/wingers. They just look outnumbered at the moment. When you play three at the back you're depending on the wingers to tuck in out of possession. That hasn't been happening hence we look wide open
I think that's harsh. We were fantastic in the semi, it wasn't about brawn and effort. Problem is we haven't had the chance to play so far.Watching the England women is exactly like watching the England men. Too static, too much relying on strength rather than skill (despite clearly having the skill), not enough not looking for the quick early attacking pass, too much going backwards. But they can still beat anyone on their day through sheer persistence and organised kicking.
In short, England in all sports seem to be the Peter Ebdon of that sport.
Definitely. Russo, Hemp, James, Toone have all been fantastic attacking forces at various times. Seen glimpses of that today.I think that's harsh. We were fantastic in the semi, it wasn't about brawn and effort. Problem is we haven't had the chance to play so far.
But...Players starting to look really nervous and flakey. Can't see us getting back into this
