Work trip tips for introverts

Ditto - except for the working from home part, unfortunately

Working from home is brilliant - sat on the settee with the laptop, pot of tea on the go. I get more done than if I was in the office, mainly due to the lack of distractions from the verbal diarrhoea crowd.

Introvert. Pah! Just too lazy to learn mind numbing fucking chit chat about kids TV sport TV holidays TV kids TV too many people you know what I mean.

Well I’m here. The first bit of good news is that the colleague I’m sharing a room with is leaving early so I’ll get a day and night of the room on my own. The hotel and complex is enormous so I don’t think it’s going to be a problem escaping when I want or need to. Don’t think this is going to be as bad as I had imagined.

I’m by the pool right now with my first (very sweet and bright orange) “cocktail”.

It's the last day and I am actually having an all right time :D Realising not as many people are extroverts as I had thought. Found the proper cocktail bar last night. Not loving sharing a room but ear plugs and an eye mask help.

I'm so happy to be home. I hated the evenings. The days were ok. But in the evenings there was this pressure to join large group activities that actually aren't activities at all but sitting/standing in a large room or disco making small talk/shouting over music. I lasted about five minutes last night and then just escaped for a walk in the gardens and beach. But my roommate came to the room every night at 3am, banged around turning lights on and then snored very loudly, so I got very little sleep.

I was mostly rubbish at hobnobbing with teachers. Sure I won't be invited back next year...which is absolutely fine by me.

I missed my own bed and own space and cats so much.

Why didn't you just not go?

Just researching the hotel. I never choose huge all inclusives myself (prefer small family run places and eating out) but it does look rather spectacular. Right on the beach, and it has a sushi bar, bowling, spa and indoor pool as well as outdoor. Maybe it won’t be so bad.

What in unholy fuck is a sushi bar? You can't drink fucking sushi

Oh I dunno, probably bad translation. I did enjoy the sushi. Was probably the highlight. That and seeing a hedgehog and playing with a very fat cat on the beach.
