Nope, I have distinct recollections of going to Southport in the 1960s and being unable to find the sea.

There used to be a ride called the Black Hole at Blackpool Pleasure Beach (not a beach, not a pleasure) and it was basically a dark waltzer. Gut flippingly good tbf. This hole was not that good.

That was North Pier though, and this accident was apparently on Central Pier. I wonder if they have the same owners?
