Will GDPR fuck up the "sign a petition against..." Trots?

You know the far right organisations wont have got their head around GDPR though, so it could be a good oppurtunity to hammer them.

I really wish that RSS was still used widely, but the big net media companies have been trying to kill it off as much as possible. It’s a bit open standards and tracker/ad free. The net is now worse in many ways than it was ten years ago.

But you're not wrong. Maybe the nearest equivalent is podcasts that allow you to focus on specific topics.

Slack is really a team communication thing, like a super chatroom - it’s not designed for pulling in content for one person from multiple external sources.

My training school use it to try and centralise communication so if you can't present at a seminar and need someone to step in we can use that rather than email, link to theory papers, other interesting items. My manager used to use it to constantly link to stuff and people would say thanks for sharing. I know its not a forum but it annoyed me - no debate. We now have a separate one for clinical trainees only and nobody uses it, everyone continues to use email which some people don't see until the last minute despite having smart phones.

It provides you with inspirational messages from your friends at slack

This is the problem with all this wonderful collaboration software - not everyone uses it or wants to use it so it always goes down to the lowest common denominator medium i.e. email unless you literally force everyone to use it.

We have a load of different systems at work and they're all used by different groups of people but not others, so if you want to co-ordinate anything across lots of groups - let alone those outside the company - you use (a) email and (b) google docs.

Every time I speak at a conference, or become loosely affiliated with some people, or just go to the toilet, I seem to get an invitation to a new Slack group about it. I must have been added as a member of 20 or 30 different ones by now, and as a result, check none of them.

I just had a look. I'm not really sure what it is, but it looks like it's a business system. Are people who aren't businesses using it? How?
There's a group been set up where I am of researchers, journalists, activists using this app., for info to be used on campaigning around health, education, special educational needs among others, for use in campaigning!
One of the things they're doing is taking ONS figures and info and scrutinising it !

You're knowledge on this subject is probably greater than mine; however what I do know and have been informed directly; first hand is that some left and progressive journalist are using it when investigating and researching issues that are the same or similar !

That's absolutely the underlying problem. People keen on these tools use them with abandon them moan that you haven't responded to an issue - but as they haven't bothered to e-mail you about they can fuck off.

Communicating with stakeholders means actually communicating, you lazy bastards.

So anyone know what happened to 38 degrees?

I used to be always getting emails from them and I've only just noticed that I haven't had any for ages.
they are still going strong but you have to check the I want to receive emails updates bit if you want to hear from them
