Wildlife Ponds... Now Total Garden Rebuild

You should take your mind off it by gardening ;)

Sorry to hear that anyway, :( hope you pick up soon

Thanks, wish it were that simple, my mental health has taken a kicking and is getting kicked while I'm down too, oh well, I'm sure someone is enjoying that, good for them :hmm:

Having a real head scratch about how to build the header pool and waterfall for the pond. It's not something I can make up as i go along... like the rest of it all so far!! And I'm not sure my planning has made things easy for me. I think I know the basic way to build it, it's just where to start and how to go about it, need the rock work to be strong, but look right, I think the best way to go about it is to build a block retaining wall for the header pool and build the rockwork against that. Am sketching like mad to try to formulate the plan of action.

On Monday a couple of my mates are coming to do the paving for a decent price, I decided I'd rather get someone that will make a good job of it than do it myself and a] it take ages and b] it not be done well

Not quite the Champs Elysees yet, more the final week with some tough stages in the mountains still to go and that's not just the garden :hmm:

No idea about ponds and waterfalls I'm afraid but looking forward to the end result

While I went to counselling to find a path through the crap I'm having, a couple of mates did this, if only my life path was so quick and simple.

Very nice!

Regarding your comment about life paths...you are blessed with more feelings and creative abilities than a collection of paving slabs, this is a good thing....:)

Just keep on ploughing on with the garden, imo, Mumbles....you're blates great at it....keep sticking your spare energy into something positive as far as you can....and keep enjoying the results, too.... ...FISH SOON, eh!?!

Paving's looking great Mumbles. I'm sure when you get some plants in and some colour, and are able to sit back and relax, things will look better - in the garden anyway, but maybe a great looking garden will perk you up a bit. It's great getting excited every day when a new flower appears. (I'm obviously easily pleased )

Made a start on the rock work  including the retaining blocks for the header pool, and pipe for cables and hose. My cunning plan is to use the 2 storage boxes to construct the header pool. I will bed them in level, use sand to sculpt the inside shape, use pond liner and then edge with rocks etc, hoping it will work!!!!

Overview, still lots to do

Yeah, still seems a long way off but getting closer

Pressing on today with the rocks, hoping to get the header pool and watercourse done today too. Can't say I feel too great though, hoping that seeing a bit of progress later will lift my stupid flat mood

You not going out for your birthday? :(

Mumbles me ol fukka, you need a mantra. May I suggest "this is fucking awesome, this is fucking awesome, this is fucking awseome" as one to help you through it?

becasue, the transormation which you are bestowing on your outdoor space, is, quite frankly, fucking awesome. :)

Oh, and happy fucking birthday!!

The rocks and that are looking great:cool: Shame you're not sounding great :(

I see your plants have been moving into place

Is that more new ones on the left?

Mumbles, it's looking absolutely amazing, you're doing a cracking job on that garden. Sorry to hear you're feeling shit though, birthdays sometimes just seem the last straw when things are crap. Look after yourself, and give yourself a birthday treat for transforming your outside space so sensationally. Hope things start picking up for you soon.

Once you've done yours, can you come and do mine, please? :D
Keep going, man, it's looking absolutely cracking. And happy birthday :) You're doing great. May not feel that way, but you are.
PS. Those are some damn fine mates, you've got there, doing the path for you. Remember that people care about you, eh.

It was a paid job, but mates rates so still a bargain :D

And thanks everyone all for your messages, means a lot

PM me your address and I'll send you seed from this plant for your pond. It is one of the loveliest plants I know.
The wikipedia photo is of it in the wild and actually doesn't give you an idea of how lovely it is. In fact I can't find anything on google images that does it any justice but these will give an impression if you kind of mentally meld them.

Those leaves at the bottom don't look like they should belong to the same plant as the top picture :hmm::D
