Wildcaper -New shop

Yes let's not start the Brixton banana wars - there are more important things to get het up about.

I'm all for having more local businesses speaking up for themselves. These guys are obviously passionate about the food, which is no bad thing - they can spare the lectures mind.

This.

Their customers are still yuppie tossers though. :p

Yeah. Righteous dude

<sorry. Couldn't resist>

Really surprised you saw it that way, it was a bit of shit marketing message then. Far too rambling and without enough focus.
Focused enough to draw attention to their products and future products.

I don't understand why something you've conceded was 'pleasant and informative' has been brought up as an issue days after the event.
Because someone else noted the unsolicited advertising and I happen to agree.
Didn't make a point of it at the time because I like their ethos and as you say they seem to care and know about food and because frankly I have more important things on my mind, knitting for instance, you can't imagine the bother I've been having with my knitting

It's honestly as close to wide a selection as can fit in the fridges and it honestly couldn't be cheaper whilst affording to keep it in those fridges. Bigger stock on Fridays and Saturdays. Could potentially stock a little bit me if more sells more..Some people seem to think that because it's a nice clean shop that it's a big rip off, it's really not, it's a new small business trying to provide a decent selection of fresh organic food from known small producers, it's not Eostre Organics but it's miles better than Tesco and with some support it might survive. A lot of people can't afford organic food, but a lot of other people can but don't consider it a priority. Through knowledge or otherwise. For me it's a fundamental just in terms of taking responsibility for the consequences of my actions. Sorry for the breathlessness. Is a link better?

I usually get a veg box from Riverford Organics but I'm prepared to give you a try. My usual box costs £12.95 and usually contains 10 items. For example this week there will be avocados, shallots, cauliflower, calabrese broccoli, mushrooms, ramiro peppers, avocados, sweetcorn, cavolo nero, cucumber, aranca tomatoes, salad pack. How do you compare, pricewise, do you think.

I am a bitter twisted shriveled hard hearted git oh Clydey peeps, I am in fact a Billy Boy to the core and them guys in that shop looked like fuckin Tims tae me ye fucking bam ye, ned cunt...

Oh my, it came over me gradual like...

I anjoyed the Sky chappies post, made me realise just how accurate my original whine had been. Excellent!!!!! I will trust by gammy old git first impressions even more now!!!

Pip Pip!!:D:D

oops a bit of heated debate here whilst away on holiday (still am)...

well there is always going to be a few people for whom its a bit too gentrified. but personally i think brixton can do with a few poncy places cause really there aren#t many. but...i do hope that other business like rosies deli for instance will not suffer.

@ raverdrew: lol with weekend q's at FM. tbh i thought the same but i guess 8 million city there will always be plenty of hungry mouths!

I bought some overpriced risotto rice from there today because I was too lazy to go back on myself.

In their defence their (small) cabbages are only £1.70, not the £7 figure made up by some posters here. Not cheap, but not extortionate imaginary prices either.

Oi! That's me and choc you're talking about.:D

maybe...we simply are a bit like that....:hmm::p

no but honestly i think its good for brixton to have more variety. recently there is a lot of normal stuff and samey samey market stalls and pound strtchers imo good to have a bit of posh too.

Is you user name some sort of diminutive af Tarquin, Tars old man?
I know is aint yer real name, but I was wondering if maybe it was an aspirational thing ?????

Yeah claiming £7 was a bit harsh, but humour often relies on exaggeration......

Still, £1.70 eh?.......

It means thunder in Welsh you ninny. Long story.
:)

funnily enough i think i saw that they had red cabbage!!

but... :p(psst- the organic lettuce is better value in the fabulous jamaican organic shop -esme- just around the corner, pssst) :p

I got my red cabbage :D Lovely shop.

I went in about a week ago. I was with a mate. We were both prepared to splash a bit of cash on lots of lovely goodies.

But...

They need to get their queueing system sorted out, or summat. By the time they'd served about the fifth braying Claphamite who just pushed in , and ignored us when we'd pointed out that it was actually our turn :mad:, we decided to leave. Without buying anything, obv.

I'm afraid I'd much rather go to Spoon on New Park Road and give my money to the lovely Nell.

Spoon is cool, but I work there so I would think that. ;)

its much like my lovely italian friend says -brixton is becoming a pit posh!!

will go later to try said buffalo milk latte. looked very busy yesterday lunch time when i passed by.

it is all a bit spooky really but i know at least one out of the owners is a longtime brixton resident.

The sourdough baguettes are distinctly moreish and good value, but I'm not as sure with the other bakery items.

Books and covers

WILD CAPER prices:

PASTA 500g £1.20
'BOUTIQUE' (home made) PASTA SAUCE 500ml £1.50
FRESH hand made buffalo RICOTTA 100g 90p
1/2 loaf wood oven baked CAFONE bread £1.80
BOTTLE of single estate DOLCETTO red (Piedmont) £4.75

Not sure if you will consider this post 'blatant marketing', or fair argument, but mix it all up and you get an all organic, all artisan (practically bespoke) meal for 4 for £10.15, including wine.

That's NUTS, really.

Well, that ain't terrible. But at the end of the day it's a simple pasta, sauce and cottage cheese dish. But if I annouced to my guests as not just a meal, but artisan bespoke organic Wild Caper meal solution I think they'd have a right to fall around laughing, pointing and calling me a ponce.
:D

But good luck with the shop anyway. I'd keep that blueskyview away from the keyboard and customers mind - he's a bit of a laughably patronising plum.
