Why do BMW and Audi owners often seem to drive like idiots?

We were given an AMG suv over Xmas when ours went in for repair. It didn’t have a particularly powerful engine, but as Spy says, the trim level was high; fancy wheels and skirts and a tip top cabin with every toy you could ever want.
The seats are important. You really don't want to be slashing through country bends at 80+ in a car with armchair seats and sliding from side to side. That'd be dangerous.

What you don't seem to realise is that replying to some of this nonsense is one of my greatest sources of enjoyment. I wait for people to spout absolute bullshit, then wait a while longer before correcting them with my expert knowledge. I do realise that, for some people, it's hard to imagine that one single person could be so knowledgeable, but I was brought up in Manchester, which turned out many of the world's geniuses, so perhaps that explains it.
On the other hand, I do realise that my vastly superior knowledge of most things can be a little intimidating (to some), so if you feel threatened by it, please let me know, and I'll try to dumb it down a little.

So super brainy and knowledgeable that you dropped 5k on a carbon bike without knowing if it was suitable for what you wanted it for and now seemingly having no recollection of the brand name or anything else about it.

No it's not. Driving on unlimited sections of autobahn (not all of them are unlimited) you get a few cars flying past you but the majority aren't really driven much faster than they are here. And I've never been blasted down an a/bahn at maximum speed from an airport in a taxi. I also doubt that "German cars", taken as a whole, are particularly quicker than Italian, French or Brit ones, or more specifically "built for speed" than any other nation's.

Silly post.
Many years ago a work colleague and her boyfriend went motorcycling round Germany. When she was riding on the a/bahn she was pulled by the cops for going too slow at 70 mph. :D

Yeah, I'd take that with a pinch of salt if I were you. You hear these stories about people getting pulled for going too slowly but in reality, if you're doing more than about 40/50mph you won't get pulled for too slow unless you're in the left lane or middle lane. You will get done for driving like a dick though; typically too fast in poor visibility/wet/ etc., and overtaking too fast/close. If they were doing 70mph your colleague was more than likely pulled for something else. Average speed on autobahns is around 80mph so no one is getting done for doing 70.

She didn't get done, just told to speed up. :)

She must have been in the left lane and causing a queue of traffic behind her. They'd tell her to move to the middle or right or go faster in the left to clear the blockage. Quite right too. The pull would be for causing an obstruction rather than riding too slowly.

Really? That seems a little oafish. Mechanical engineers are usually rather well versed in matters of mechanics, ime.
It does seem a little odd, doesn't it, seeing as the person they're rolling their eyes at may well have designed/built the bike.

My exes dad was a cad enginner. Designed some sea plough, twin exhausts on some motorbike, but when it came to twirling the spanners he was shite. He did let everyone know he was an engineer of course.
Oh, he owns an Audi S8 ( I had a go once, wasn't that impressed) just to keep on thread like.

What year?
Fuck knows, he's got two. Ones blue and ones silver ;) . Both personalised reg, but I'm guessing 10 year old by now. Probably would have enjoyed driving it more had it not been automatic. Nearly bought his Merc last month but it has leather seats.

If it's 10 years old it's probably a D3 with the Lamborghini V10. Not much to dislike, tbf. You probably didn't drive it properly.

Like I said, I don't like driving automatics. Especially expensive ones that I don't own and only covered by 3rd party.
I used to hate driving automatics but they grew on me the older I got. They do make sense in big cars with lots of power, and I especially like driving other people's fast, expensive cars :D
