Who's got the heating on?

Have you put the heating on?

Does anyone have a heating system you can do from your phone & heat individual rooms only? I’m trying to look into that.
I have a Loxone mini-server in the loft which, amongst other things, controls the heating in each room separately. I can tweak the settings from my phone or a PC.

In the last week, I've put the heating on in the lounge for a while on a couple of the evenings but it's been OK without it most of the time.

I have got a thermostatically controlled fan heater in the office (at home) so that's been on a couple of times too. I get a bit cold if I don't move around when I'm working at my desk.

Its 14°C outside here and between 17.8°C in the kitchen (no sun and I've had the outside door open) and 20.3°C in the bedroom (the sun's shining on that bit of the house).

No heating needed.

damn. what happened to the boiler? I doubt it'll get really cold for another few months...
Don't know. I only had two weeks in the flat before going abroad and was working multiple jobs so didn't have a chance to get the boiler serviced. Will look into it when I'm back. It was flashing an error message.

Im of Irish stock so if it was up to me, the heating wouldnt come on until after Halloween at the earliest, and switched off early as soon as March rolls around. Even in the cold months, a maximum of 2 hours in the morning, and 2 hours in the evening. I've never really got my way because i have lived with several housemates all my adult life, who whinge about being 'cold' even though it is at least 15 degrees outside (worst culprits for this were an Italian girl and a Brazilian guy), and it would be a bit cuntish to deny them home comforts.

About to move in with GF and young son. We've already discussed the heating and she is adamant the heating will go on to ensure the temperature never drops below about 20 :hmm::facepalm:. I guess with a child in the house i'll have to cut some slack here, but she'll be getting a very warm jumper for Christmas and ill certainly be fiddling with the heating controls most days to keep that temperature, and heating bills, down as much as possible.

21c in the kitchen. No heating on yet. We are all fairly hot people and this house is well insulated. So probably won't go on until the daytime temps are in single figures.

I've had the window open in my office aka the smallest bedroom today, it's closed now like all the windows but the heating hasn't come on.

A week or two back, I remember bravely insisting that I was going to keep the heating off for as long as possible, largely because of a degree of concern about how expensive it was going to be.

Today is the first day when some cracks in that position started to emerge. My living room thermometer says it's 16C in there, which means it's likely to be more like 14 in my bedroom/office (one very cold wall, and it makes a striking difference). And, when I got out of bed this morning, I felt actually cold. I'm holding my resolve, but I think I had better start thinking up some good keep-warm-without-heating strategies for the next month or two, at least.

mrs tag opened discussions about heating last night. She said if I don't close the windows a bit she would insist on the heating going on.
I'm so pleased to be the only one I have to argue with about heating :). Well, me and my bank manager, anyway...

When it gets really cold, and I have to put my fingerless gloves on, I feel like a high-tech Ebenezer Scrooge :D
