Who's got the heating on?

Have you put the heating on?

We leave it on all year round and let it decide, it's pretty good. It's started to come on in the morning and late evenings in the past week or so. It's still on now ('m sat by the radiator) which is the longest it has stayed on so far.
When I lived in the UK that's what we did. Set it to 18° or there abouts, and let it do its thing. We did a similar thing with the a/c, set it to 25°, I think. An integrated automatic system would have been better.

I let the thermostat make these decisions for me.
Basically I voted yes because it's always "on". Whether it's actually fired up the boiler to warm the radiators is a mystery to me. I suspect not, living in a concrete maisonette. It takes a while for all the heat to leak out.

I put it on this morning as it's quite chilly here. But I turn it off if it's too hot. Plus blanket is on the bed.

I haven't put it on yet but it is colder than it has been for a while. Yesterday I was on a long zoom call and I wore my jacket to keep the chill at bay.

I'm wearing my dressing gown at the moment.

Not yet. I'm waiting for a delivery of seagulls to chuck in the wood burner. :hmm:
Go out and shoot some, the fuckers are hardly an endangered species
I'm going to dig out my winter quilt and pyjamas. :(
We have a summer duvet 10tog on Mrs Q's side and 4.5 tog on mine which we're still using. We have a 13.5 tog in the attic which I get out when we get into the deeps of winter.

I have invested in a heated airer and it's already showing its worth.

Did consider putting the heating on today but it's September so on principle went for some winter pyjamas and socks with slippers.

This entire post comes to you from middle age.

Waving right back at middle age direction!

(this post coming from a typhoony October morning, where temperatures have dropped to 19 c)

I've used the electric blanket and fan heater a bit recently, and may even have to close the windows at some point ...
Going by last year's meter readings, I should get through October without spending much on heating - but last year I had the advantage of being at work and then getting warmed-up by my cycle ride home ...

I would more, but I'm a lodger and my housemate is a cheap-skate and also notices everything... amazing eye for detail. She hasn't put it on and I'm getting my own place soon so I cant be arsed to discuss it.

So if it's cold I put it on sneakily for an hour when she's out for several hours. It's currently 17.5 degrees in the house! Not exactly warm. I'm hoping my new place is better insulated... I will def be using the heating a few hours a day though.

Not yet. I'm wfh today in the kitchen which is the coldest room in the house by some distance and so far a jumper and some big socks are sufficient. Hands are a bit chilly so I might dig out the fingerless gloves.
