White civil rights leader has pretended to be black for years

What if they speak a bit of patois? Which has basically found it's way firmly into Metropolitan English. What about if they mostly listen to black music? Are we forgetting the insults such as 'wigger' or the use of 'BMW' to men Black man's woman...I remember a childhood friend tell another that when she scraped her hair back into a tight ponytail she looked like a 'Nigger lover'.

Black Man's Wheels

Maybe she's been doing it for so long, she believes it.

But as someone said upthread, she can choose not to be black any more at any point. So it's not the same as 'real' discrimination that women of colour experience.
What she's done is now put a question mark above black peoples discrimination and them when they highlight it. Sure it might a question mark in the sort of minds where it always existed, but not solely. She's again associated not standing for discrimination with attention-seeking - that's a gift to racists.

Reminds me of the woman who pretended to be a survivor of 911 and went on to lead survivors' support groups. Is this confabulation as opposed to deliberately setting out to deceive?
didn't we have a woman on here in '05 who claimed to have witnessed the execution of jean charles de menezes? and of course flimsier who claimed to have been in the boxing day tsunami.

I think maybe she is unwell.
It's kind of reminding me of that woman who led a 9/11 Committee of some sort (I'll find a link in a sec) by saying she lost her husband (?) but it turned out she didn't lose anyone at all  Some kind of extreme and pathological... attention seeking?

edit: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alicia_Esteve_Head She claimed to be a survivor of the WTC

edit2: Buckaroo just said that, soz

oh aye

Difficult to judge this one. She seems delusional to the point where she's convinced herself she's black.

On the other hand she does genuinely seem to love black people and want to work for their sakes with NAACP etc. Not that it excuses the deception, but I wouldn't go so far as screaming racist or anything. That she's willingly deceived them and herself that she's black makes me feel more sorry for her than anything. If that actually is the case, she appears to think she can't be white and work for the advancement of black people. Which is sad. Or perhaps she just doesn't like white folk? Either way, it seems like she needs to talk to someone professional more than she needs to be made a mockery of on the internet.
