Where do you buy shoelaces from?

Obviously there is the lockdown problem, but without going to amazon and getting stuff by post, where do you go?
I just want dark green trainer laces.
The shoe / trainer places don't seem to have them on-line for click and collect. Is there somewhere in lockdown I can go?

I've never bought shoelaces before.

Either Timpsons, or Dr Martens, before covid. I don't suppose either are open at the mo, and DMs won't do trainer laces on their website. Timpsons might though. I believe they are an Urban 75 approved supplier, on account of them employing a lot of ex-cons.

cobblers

that is to say, that most shoe repairers will sell a range of laces. not sure if they are allowed to open at the moment, though.

supermarkets do sell some, but probably not a wide enough range to include dark green trainer laces.

plenty of traders online without going near amazon

Someone on here pointed me at this website a while ago. maybe useful.

Plenty of must-be-open supermarkets have mini-branches of Timpsons within them

Frinstance, our local Sainsbury's does, and that Timpsons is open similar hours to the main store (shuts somwhat earlier I think).

Which of the 62 different methods shown do you object to?
I only saw a million pictures of the one method on the front page, I didn't look further into it. I assumed it was the train track method and that's why they were called what they were called.

The range in timpson's is pretty shit IME, I doubt they'll have green trainer laces.

TBH if you want anything that's not really common (ie, brown or black, or shitty kids novelty laces) you're best buying online - you might get lucky at a cobblers or specialist shoe shop, but you're unlikely to find them anywhere else.

how about these guys? Green

I buy leather laces from here - I would imagine green ones are available. Online is really your best bet for anything other than black/brown.

there’s a massive gap in the market for a specialist shoelace shop, physically and virtually, if you ask me - with a proper range for every type of shoe and boot

the range in cobblers is just that

Thin safety rope from climbing/outdoor shops is a good one for shoe/boot laces - I buy a few meters every so often and just cut to length and flame the ends to stop fraying as the need arises.

It also comes in a fair variety of colours.

I'll only usually buy proper laces from the supermarket for smart/dressy shoes which tend to have smaller eyelets but I don't wear them very often.

Seems unnecessary what with lockdown, why would you go somewhere just to buy green shoelaces? Anyway I was just answering your question in the title.

Because I didn't want to get caught up in the usual eBay faff of buying a small item that says they are located in the UK only to find out that it's actually going to be coming from China and will take two months.

It does say not by post in the OP.

Just buy some from one of the many websites that aren't ebay or amazon that you can find on the Internet. For stuff like this there just aren't bricks and mortar shops anymore, but thankfully it's all available really easily online. The one I posted even does free postage. You'd have the shoelaces by now if you'd ordered some then.

I ordered some from there after you posted, and they arrived next day, free postage. (well it wasn't really, because the laces were fractionally more expensive than elsewhere, but it was fast and efficient)
