What might the sartorial 60 year old man about town be wearing these days ?

I'm somewhat put off due to recollections of being 37ish in a techno club in Bristol when this ancient white-haired guy in a WavyGravy shirt stepped onto the dancefloor with a girl young enough to be his granddaughter ...

I've developed more interest in 'fashion' in the last ten years and enjoy thinking about what I wear. It's been quite liberating being able to dress how I damn please and if that means people want to label me eccentric/dandy/a twat, that's fine by me. Anything but fucking boring.

To be honest, having young 'uns come up to me and say they like my look really puts a spring in my step (that never happened for just about my entire adult life).

Motto: do your best to make sure you're not looking like a twat, but fuck it - if it makes you happy, dress how you please.

Easy style for middle aged men: nice quality dark-dye jeans (blue or blue black).

Good quality buttoned shirt. Worn with two buttons open (though not gaping asunder like a medallion man. No collar buttons. French cuff optional. Quality is everything. Plain is great, eccentric patterns are more acceptable than ever though. See shoop doop shirts for some great designs.

Suede or retro trainers OR any kind of ankle height boot.

To be honest I will probably carry on buying workwear in the supermarket - hopefully board shorts / wetsuits etc a lot of the time - hopefully I will be relaxed enough to be seen in lifeguard-approved swimming trunks.
I generally wear a blue towelling robe when out of the water.
Never specialist cycle gear though - any more than I do now.
If I was wealthier I suppose I would go in for quality hiking gear.

There's a few more casual outfits but not many, I agree. And Daniel Day Lewis might have a few issues with being British too!

That's pretty much what I go for. Just one button undone. Cufflinks sometimes. Boots more often than trainers. A decent jacket. That's about it for me - it seems to suit me.

I'm not a man but I would dearly love a pair of leather wingtip brogues with leather soles. Either black or brown or tan.
A really good pair .... made by a company like Barker or Cheaney or dare I say it Grenson. They're stupid expensive...but before I die I will make it my mission to have a pair of them...
In size 5.....UK ...... in case anyone has a pair lying around....

Sigh.

Have a root around in TKMax occasionally they have them.
