What little things have you done

You're absolutely correct. I will immediately rescind my attempt at doing something, however small, and go back to the practice of wasting paper and card, to be chucked into the recycling the next day . How stupid am I attempting to do something?
You are complacent if you think that not sending Christmas cards is going to do anything.

Not exactly little, as it cost a fair few bob, but getting the double glazing done last summer is paying dividends, I reckon. After a blast of central heating the house seems to retain the warmth noticeably better than this time last year.

As a way of tackling climate change, even on a personal level, it's pretty weak yes.

But if you look at the topic slightly more broadly, then a lot of the problem we are in comes down to our attitudes to consumption and waste and use of nature's resources (obviously driven by capitalism!). We do need a shift in values around what we value, what we throw away, what represents a good life, and achieving that does mean lots of lots of tiny small changes to how we live - and people deciding not to join in with wasteful activities like sending hundreds of cards is one of those small things that helps promote that shift in values, maybe.
