What coffee are you drinking just now?

That is one super "hearty" blend - though the wholemeal toast/PNB/YE may have a lot to do with it.
I tried an El Bosque / Uruga blend yesterday and it wasn't nearly as good.
I think I will be drinking this combo until they run out of one or other of the ingredients.

Just ordered some of the Fazenda to give the blend a go, sounds great. I've never blended myself before!

I've just had some Brazil Fazenda Cachoeira da Grama Natural Canario arrive from Hasbean. I don't normally go for Brazilian coffees, preferring a slightly lighter brew. But, 25% off y'know?

So, once I've finished my perfectly drinkable, but unremarkable, Pact House off I"ll give this a go.

Mildly (only mildly) disappointed with this. I mean, it makes a nice mug of coffee but...I dunno, it's just a touch too smooth maybe?

Anyway, got some Costa Rica Finca Licho Yellow Honey Villa Sarchi on the way for next week.

Running low again - only two brews of the Brazil Fazenda Inglaterra Natural Bourbon remaining to blend with the funky Uraga Ethiopian beans - but I have too many small amounts of beans left, so I'm endeavouring to persevere with finishing them.

Hasbean's Guatemala El Bosque blended with Twoday's Sumatran was disappointing initially, but was fine by the end of the mug - accompanying breakfast toast
I can't place what's wrong with the Guatemala - my only coffee for years - a sort of weird "staleness" in the lower mid-range ...
I may mix all my remaining beans together and hope for a lucky blend.

Probably time to try more of Twoday's El Salvador El Borbollon with the hope for the mega chocolate of last April - seeing as the Brazilian wasn't nearly as cocoa-powdery as before ... - I have half a bag or Uraga left to blend it with.

El Borbollon it is for the next 50 days.
I know it's naughty buying 500g of beans, but the minimum order is 300 and their packets won't go through the letter box.
This time I will look out some jars and look after the beans better.

I've started with the straight beans and it's yummy - still not the crazy amount of chocolate I had last April - maybe a darker roast.
I hope I don't end up preferring them like this as I have quite a lot of blending beans left ... :hmm:

The beans were only roasted a couple of days ago, so it will take a while to decide....

I had my first cup(s) of El Salvador Finca Los Andes Natural Bourbon today, it's the nicest coffee I've had for a while. It tastes like the chocolate and fig Christmas cake I made last year.

You buggers here on Urban just feed my coffee paraphernalia thing. I've got a filter coffee machine, a V60 with glass receptacle, a gooseneck kettle, an Aeropress, moka pots, cafeteries and I'm still sitting on my hands and not yet ordering a Chemex cos I want to wait until the kitchen is done and I've got space to display it properly. Quite a lot of this has been your doing shakes fist :D

ETA: And a Hario grinder.

I've got a Chemex with cloth filters from my much more nerdy coffee days, makes such good coffee and I never bloody use it.

A friend gave my partner this that I have just looked up & it costs £23! He likes it but much prefers his single origin Ethiopian coffee which is his treat coffee at £10 same size bag. 57CA635D-97B5-443D-A34C-71E407714DD4.png

I wonder how much dried fungus they're obliged to actually put in it ...

Apparently Finland is the top coffee drinking nation !
32g of beans per person per day.
My modest16g puts me equal with Italy.

Mind you, those are average figures ...

A first for me, I've Chinese beans in the house from Yunnan. Haven't tried them yet, but will be sure to report back.
The notes say "Plum, fudge, amaretto". I get the plum and amaretto, not so much the fudge. For a medium roast, it tastes very dark. Quite nice to my tastes, actually; though I would prefer something a bit earthier. I can recommend it, it's called "The Fields" at Climpson & Sons.

Somewhat disappointing coffee this morning.

Somehow yesterday I weighed out my 16g of beans into the grinder twice.
When the grinding went on for so long, I feared the grinder had packed-up, but realised what had happened when I put the grounds in the Aeropress.
So I wrapped up the extra in foil.
Today I added a few fresh beans to the mix, but I swear I could tell it had lost its mojo after only 24 hours ...

Thankfully I'd baked a fresh loaf to go with it :)

Sadly they sold out almost as soon as I received my bag.
It's sort of like one of my blends - i.e with the funkiness built-in though it doesn't hit you in the face when you open the bag like the Ethiopian Uragia beans do - even after several months.

Sadly they're out of those now as well :(

I was almost out of the figgy Finca Los Andes (yes I genuinely tasted that once or twice - but my palate is a bit random first thing :) )

So I've played it safe-ish with :-

... and took a punt on this one :-

But both have "chocolate", so I should at least have something drinkable - even if I need to buy something else to blend them with ...

I haven't bought any beans for ages now as I'm back at work so I don't make the effort to make filter coffee but let me know if either of those are particularly good and I'll stop being so lazy!

I had the Brazilian yesterday - first impressions a bit lacking in "bass" (chocolate) but nicer than the El Bosque that I no longer enjoy.

The Bolivian has quite a lot of distinctly caramelised "jam" - and a rich, earthy "finish" - perhaps "chocolate" - assisted by the grounds that my grind and metal filter let through ...

This will take several tastings and doubtless off-gassing to get a firm impression.

The Brazilian isn't cutting it for me. It's moderately acidic, but mostly it's a bit bland ... "well-rounded" - lacking both in chocolate bass notes and funky top notes ... I'm sure it would suit a lot of people though and probably a lot better than my "emergency" beans .... I hope I can find the right beans to jazz it up with ... I'll see if I feel like a second infusion today as I find that sometimes helps to see what's going on.

A shame as I've had some interesting Brazilian beans over recent years ...

I would definitely buy the Bolivian again - it's bright and interesting.
Luckily a 50/50 blend with the Brazilin makes a very refreshing coffee...
I would like to find some super-chocolatey beans for my next order in a couple of weeks' time - perhaps some more El Borbollon .... El Borbollon — TwoDay Coffee Roasters
I liked the sound of the Bolivian, think I'll order some now I've heard your review!
