We are going to kill you, not really, Yes we are, No we're not .. (Troy Davis)

Start it:) (Though I probably won't see it till tomorrow as I'm in need of bed.) In any case, I don't have your idea of what you mean by 'townies', so I may well have misunderstood you. I also didn't think I was having a go at you (and am not sure whether you thought I was :D).

Eh, maybe I will. I think I did not explain the townies thing very well. It's an "exclusive" mentality. People who feel like they own the place because their families go back generations and generations. There are townies in Massachusetts gov't and there are working class townies and rich townies. The main point is, if you're not one of them, for any discernible reason, they will snub you/ find some reason to look down on you. I can definitely see how racism could be an aspect of that too. that was what I was trying to say.
Good night, and sorry for my rambling on. I don't get to talk about where I'm from very often so I get all excited. :D

You can treat it as a privilege if you like - for me it just is a necessity.
If I did not drive I could not live where I live and work where I work.

Who mentioned driving in anything other than a responsible way?

No, nobody did. I just find people complaining about speed limits a bit suspicious.

The 55mph limit as was in the USA (put in because of the oil crisis) to someone who had lived in Germany where it is normal and legal to drive at 90mph on the autobahn, felt quite ridiculously slow, especially as the distances between places was greater than it is in Germany.

Apparently someone got executed or something. I was looking for a thread about it but just found this one instead. Anyway, here's a shit and badly thought out article from the LA Times.

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/nat...-2-executions-2-very-different-reactions.html

this is one of 2 threads on Troy Davis. this one went off track. Sorry.

Why do you think that article was badly thought out? Do you think it's making a case for reverse racism or something? I don't quite see it.

As idiotic as that would be, it would at least be an opinion. As it is, the "article" appears to be some disparate burblings the author read on Twitter, hastily cobbled together without any meaningful comment or insight.

^^^That

What a stupid article. Can't the author understand that many people are against the death penalty per se, regardless of the colour, creed or crime of the condemned.
