Tulse Hill news, chitter chatter and gossip

Which are the £3 pubs?

  • The Bird in Hand (recently taken over by Antic, but im told they will still do a Carling for £3.50)
  • The Hill
  • The Bricklayers Arms
  • I would need to double check but i think The Alfred and The Pavillion on Sydenham High Road

Obviously The Capitol (Wetherpsoons) will, but that doesnt count.

Queen of the South still have their generator running. Member of staff a couple of weeks back said there were delays with 'the council' connecting the power up. Any news on this? Not exactly great from an environmental viewpoint.

UK Power Networks (LPN) is responsible for new electricity connections - not the council.

But didn't the White Heart already have electricity?

Interesting development at the site of the new housing development opposite the THH…

I’m not surprised, given that there’s been no construction taking place in the last seven months…
I’m sure to nobody’s surprise, two months after the above Notice signs were posted by Lambeth Council, neither has Henley Construction resumed work (as far as I have observed), nor has the Council decided to grow a spine (or more aptly perhaps, a conscience) and taken down the hoardings that have blocked two sections of pavement at an extremely busy and complex junction for pedestrians to navigate, making crossing said junction an even more daunting process,. Whilst also having had a bus sto suspended at the same time, for what must now be nigh on two years.

I was a bit suspicious when I noticed the signs didn’t state a deadline for action to be taken. The whole thing fucking stinks and no mistake.

I once again found myself wondering what was going on with that development, and thought I'd take a quick look at Henley Construct. It's not great news. Seems they went into administration in April, and a recent story from Construction News suggests their creditors aren't going to be receiving any money from them (Henley creditors owed £6.7m set to receive nothing | Construction News). Wonder if they've considered selling that crane which is sitting on the Tulse Hill site doing nothing aside from being an eyesore.

I assumed that things like cranes and scaffolding were usually owned by contractors

This bit may well prove pertinent (from the link in post 9040).

However, a company controlled by a relative of the directors has proposed to buy them out, according to the administrators’ report.

The young woman who was attacked is probably lucky to be alive. If anyone knows who the owner of the animals is, they should report him (or her) to the authorities:

Abbots Park: Woman attacked by three dogs

Precisely:

"One jumped and bit me on my face then I started screaming."

"One of them came on to my right arm and was biting into my arm. He [the owner] couldn't get them off."

'I was mauled by two dogs who bit my arms, legs and face as I walked in a park'

"A woman who was mauled by three dogs in a terrifying attack that was filmed and then shared on social media says she thought she was going to die ..."

Woman thought she was going to die in dangerous dog attack

"I had to loosen my hoodie and take my hoodie off, and tear my arm out of the dog's mouth," she says. "If I didn't get away within the split second that I did, I knew those dogs were going to kill me."

Lakaydia Reynolds appeared on national television earlier today to speak of her experience:

According to the Metropolitan Police:

'The owner of the dogs had left with the animals before officers arrived. He later contacted police on Wednesday, 7 June (2023) (the day after the attack) and voluntarily handed three dogs to officers. They were taken into police kennels.

'The owner of the dogs was interviewed under caution on Thursday, 15 June (2023) and remains under investigation.

'Following an extensive examination, one of the dogs was found to be a male American Pitbull Terrier, which is a prohibited type under S1 of the Dangerous Dogs Act. The owner was informed and decided to give up ownership; the dog was euthanised with the owner’s awareness and permission on 4 July (2023).'

The other dogs remain in police kennels at this time while further enquiries are carried out.

Just come back from holiday, and to our great surprise the fence has been replaced by a different one placed further back towards the site. The pavement and bus stop have been liberated at last!

The bus stop was still suspended as of yesterday, but I'd imagine it'll be a few days at most before it's put back into use :)
