Top Boy is coming back

Yes yes yes

A mere 6 years after the last series, it's back. First episode will be on netflix (and presumably elsewhere ;)) on 13 September

So. I'm guessing Dushane got away from the Albanians

But isn't Drake behind some of the scripting for the new season? I have no idea whether Drake has done/does much screen stuff, but I hope his eyes are better than his ears.

He certainly produced it but i don't know if he was involved in the script

I need to rewatch the first series sometime, as I remember really liking it.

I remember having a sort of déjà vu watching it, as I though one character looked really like Kano. Similar happened watching The Wire and thinking Cheese was the spit of Method Man.

Not seen any of them, but seeing this thread last night I watched a few trailers. Apparently season 1 is coming to Netflix tomorrow.

I finished it yesterday. Not without its faults - possibly a couple of episodes too long, and some of the writing stretched belief to its limits - but I really enjoyed it and it was in turns funny, gripping, and sad.
Clearly been left open for a return, too.

I'd forgotten it's my son's fave ever drama, so to speak, so he binge watched it all on Fri night. We're on episode 5- I've enjoyed it so far.

I enjoyed last one but listening to some younger than me folk I will not recognise any of the hip hop artists now.
Is Asha and Kano still in it?

Finished tonight. Excellent stuff. S3 had a few moments of filler, and the structure wasn't quite there, but overall a gut punch of a season, and a series. Kano really is very good

Found the dialogue painful to listen to. Characters explaining even the most obvious of happenings. It is beautifully shot and captures London well but the violence is gratuitous and very few of the characters are like-able.

That scene in S1 Ep4 (I think) where Asher D and his mate put it on the antique dealer, she tries to phone someone, Asher’s fam slams the phone, 3 second wait then an excruciating ‘naaaah, fack-dat’ was what led me to say - funnily enough - ‘naaaah, fack-dat’

A large percentage of the dialogue must be padded out with f-bombs.

“give me a kiss”
“I’ve got morning breath”
“All’s I can smell is that fucking weird tea”

Touching.

Just started this, but totally fucked it up thanks to Netflix. Thought we were watching season 1, but we are actually watching season 3, because Netflix have decided to call the third season, season one, and call the previous two seasons, a completely different programme (Top Boy: Summerhouse) Took us about 4 episodes to realise though!

Is it worth stopping, and watching in the correct order, or is it ok to carry on watching this season, and then flick back to one and two?

I'd have made the mistake if not for this thread.

I'd go back to be honest. They are slightly different in style, but do build the characters. They are also a fair bit shorter only 4 or 5 episodes per series.
