Things you really hate about the Premier League

weird mouth-frothing strop
Jesus.
No, you listen. You're selectively choosing bits of my posts and shaping them to what you want to rally against.
Twisty, twisty, twisty. Try rereading what you said. You unambiguously said that the football was "shit." And that's an idiotic thing to say, just like your ridiculous comments about coolness.

PS I mention lots of brands in the tech forums here. Some of the brands I actively dislike but I'll post about them if I think one of their products may be of interest. That's what the forum is about: to talk about tech.

I mentioned the Amazon tablet because it may be of interest to those on a low income. That's not the same as directly funding an evil right wing cunt like Murdoch every month. I don't suppose you can see the difference.

I did say it was shit. I've not tried to deny that.

And what was ridiculous about saying that some people support DH because it's cool? It's true. It's trendy. MGO had no problem acknowledging that.

It was so amazingly trendy and cool in Lewes last night. It was amazing. And all those people travelling to watch "shit" football, week after week. It's all shit. Every game. Because you say so.

But can you clear one thing up for me? Why would people think it's cool and trendy to watch shit football in an open terrace in the middle of winter and keep coming back for more?

It's a shit standard of football by comparison but it's become cult-like in its following of certain clubs, such as DHFC. That's ok if it makes the supporters happy. They're not harming anyone, but the constant insistence that their type of football is better/more authentic/grass roots/superior/bollocks bollocks bollocks/premiership is shit/ wank wank wank, etc, etc, etc, ad fucking infinitum, is just tossy nonsense.

Exactly.

Christ, Ed. You're being the parody of yourself that drives people to leave this place. Take a step back.

Oh, and fuck Murdoch. He's king of the scum
Fuck murdoch, sure, but not fuck everyone who buys stuff from him. He's stolen our sports from us - I don't blame people who want to watch those stolen sports for paying sky.

Not sure what's so wrong with 'armchair fans' either. The beauty of modern technology is that such fans can exist. I follow all kinds of sports, but I've only ever seen football, cricket and baseball live. But you wouldn't get tennis fans having a go cos you've never been to Wimbledon. Don't like this one-up-manship - there can be loads of reasons why people don't go to games.

I do have a problem with people giving Murdoch money, but I haven't got a problem with people watching sport on TV.

Unless, that is, they get on their high horse and start inventing things about people who actually go to games - at any level - and start dismissing entire tiers of football as all being "shit" and the fans just sad fucks following fashion.

Ed, I've said no such thing. I said some of the fans go because it's cool. Which is true. And you know it.

As for personal attacks, I genuinely have no idea what you're on about.

After 15 years, I'm out.

I do have a problem with people giving Murdoch money ...
Here's a thought editor ..... get over it.

What other people do with their money has nothing to do with you.

I have Sky for football, cricket, and a few other things, films, and other channels. I try to get to at least one Premiership game most months, and often wander around amateur games at weekends.

I disagree with people who spend loads of money on drugs and alcohol, but that's their business. Who the fuck are you to have a problem with what I do with my money?

This comment seems designed to be nothing but hurtful: "You're being the parody of yourself that drives people to leave this place."

That seems an extremely unnecessary comment to me. If you feel that you're being "driven out" because of this one thread, then that is a real shame and I'd honestly be very disappointed and saddened. This is a football forum where people understandably argue robustly and the last thing I'd want to do is drive anyone out, but you've posted up some stuff which has annoyed the fuck out of me, and no doubt vice versa.

That's how these things work, but that last comment of yours really was below the belt.

Sorry I have to say you're totally in the wrong here. I don't think ChrisFilter has said anything out of order and you've been needlessly aggressive and misrepresented him all the way through.
Yeah I agree.

Seem to have reached a point where I disagree with both ed and CF on this stuff, but I didn't see CF being out of order - the punches were coming from both sides.

In that case I apologise. It was meant as an eye opener, and not intended to be hurtful. I'm sorry.

I don't feel driven out so much as wonder if I fit in anymore. It doesn't seem like there's much room for debate.

Anyway. My final comment will be that I really haven't ever said that everyone who supports DHFC does so because it's cool, or even hinted at it being a majority. As someone who was watching their games ten years ago, I've witnessed a massive growth in their attendance. Partly driven by disenfranchisement with top-level football's commercial nature, but also driven by it becoming trendy. There's nothing wrong with that, nor have I said there is.

Er, what happened there?

Where have all of the editor's posts on this thread gone?

Has he put us on mutual ignore for daring to disagree with him again?

You were put on forced ignore some time ago and were notified of it. Unfortunately, that hasn't stopped you responding to my posts anyway - with the customary thread-diverting personal dig or two thrown in - so I've reintroduced the forced ignore. If you wish to discuss this any further, take it to the feedback forum.

Blimey. You sound like you need a holiday old chap. It's extremely admirable that you felt able to jack in supporting Cardiff for your local team, but you do yourself no favours with your hypersensitivity to the criticism of them. You come across as one of those weird religious types who have recently found God and now the message must be spread far and wide, this is the only way, all other ways are WRONG!

Why you just can't just enjoy the fun that Hamlet gives you, and leave people to enjoy the football they do, whilst acknowledging it's faults is beyond me. It can't be healthy getting this wound up over other people's choices surely?

I'm afraid you're a bit late with that woefully misguided personal attack, but 10/10 for effort. Please keep all further 'advice' to yourself though, please as I'm really not interested or convinced by your 'concern'.

Thanks, old chap!

 Advice? Where was that? You are making stuff up again, much like you was when accusing CF of giving out 'Lectures'

You've proper embarrassed yourself all over this thread.

At least read your own stupid, shit-stirring posts. This advice: "You sound like you need a holiday old chap."

The subject of this thread is the Premier League not holiday advice. If you have nothing on topic to contribute, please fuck off.

With the events of this week at Anfield, the thread is well-timed. The very issues being raised as the worst of modern football here are being debated on a whole new scale. Interesting times, even if the money juggernaut is just slowed down for a bit, rather than stopped.

Is there any chance of this being a genuine turning point? The vested interest are too deeply dug-in by now I would have thought. More two-year season ticket freezes before the price escalator is cranked up again seems more likely to me. I'm generally a pessimist though.

I sincerely hope so. Much credit to the Liverpool fans, although I have doubts whether a lot of other fans will have that kind of commitment (see: Cardiff City).
