yep, never made a single penn y profit on the TimesPleased to see it struggling, but Murdoch has always been prepared to subsidise loss-making titles that gave him some political power. I fear we won't see the end of it for as long as his empire thrives.

Increased turnover and reduced expenses helped the publisher of The Times and The Sunday Times to make an annual after-tax profit of £9.6 million, compared with a loss of £8 million in the previous financial year.
Times Newspapers’ earnings before interest, taxation, depreciation and amortisation rose to £17.08 million in 2018, from a loss of £27,000 in 2017. The improved figures came from turnover up from £319 million to £326 million, as well as lower administrative costs.

Blimey!Actually 'The Times' is now profitable, hence the launch of 'Times Radio' nationally on DAB.
Blimey!
That's almost certainly the first time ever.
At thwe time he bought/rescued the 'paper, he was quite upfront about not envisage much, if any profit, from it, and he did so r to get top-table political influence
Yes, my wapping mole also tells me that they've had a major suvccess with the paywalls and online subs, and their reader offers.Indeed.
They have had a right success in driving forward online subscriptions, and combined paper/online subscriptions.
Times Radio has been launched to help drive forward subscriptions, whilst it's accepting sponsorship of programmes, it's not carrying any traditional 'spot advertising', so will never be commercially viable as a radio station, but that's not its purpose, its a marketing tool for subscriptions.
I'd like to see that substantiated, please. The Times has regularly been in profit over the last 5 years, and was regularly in profit before the turn of the millenium too. Whoever told you Murdoch made no money on it was talking bollocks.
Profit year ending 2014: The Times and Sunday Times become profitable for first time in 13 yearsI'd like to see that substantiated, please.
The universal-cum-general consensus and received wisdom in the media world ( a world I have been in, on and off, for 21 years) is that the Times and Sunday Times has made ittle or no money for Murdoch, frequently a loss, simply because the cost of such an extensive global stable of journalists, subbies, photographers, layout people, ad sales staff, marketing & circulation people, etc - in fact, all you would need to maintain the 'paper as the ultimate quality broadsheet and the 'paper of record - is eyewateringly huge.
Having said that, the move to Wapping saw a massive reduction in their print and repro costs
OK (partly) fair enough that's 2014, and the year CupidStunt referred to, (can't et p\st FT paywall)Profit year ending 2014: The Times and Sunday Times become profitable for first time in 13 years

Articles refer frequently to profitability at the turn of the millennium too (albeit with a 13 year gap where they made a loss each year)
Are quoting from Sergeant Major in the sitcom It Ain't Half Hot Mum?as already said
"oh dear, what a pity, never mind"
I don't think I have ever bought a copy nor will I ever buy one.
Apparently sales of the Daily Star have increased recently around here. Some may think this is due to the new editorial direction. I surmise it’s purely because it’s cheaper than the Mirror and S**The cunts have been posting their filthy rag through people's doors (my mum and sister) in Yorkshire
Should this be reported?
The Daily Star has undoubtedly become the most fierce and sharp critic of the government (as far as the front pages go, at least) of all the newspapers in this country. Which is something that if someone had told me only one or two years ago was going to happen, I would had urged them to stop taking hallucinogens.Apparently sales of the Daily Star have increased recently around here. The shop near me tries to give away free copies of the sun sometimes when i'm buying other things. Guess it's a desperate attempt to get new readers.
