The stupidity of the anti-vaxx nutcases

Was there a programme on the antivaxx nut jobs last night as he was banging on about it?

Yeah, was pretty interesting. Corbyn is an utter lunatic. It's being discussed on some of the other vax threads, there's quite a few now.

This nonsense started of as simple 'vaccine shedding', which can only happen if a vaccine includes a live virus, none of the covid vaccines do.

Then they moved onto 'spike protein shedding', which is also impossible, and complete nonsense.

They were rushed, for understandable reasons, but they still under went all the usual trials, these two articles have helped a few people I know that had such concerns, could help your housemate, if they are willing to read them. People that are just hesitant about the vaccines can be persuaded IME, it's the covid deniers & extreme anti-vaxxers that are beyond help.

Thanks for this. I've sent him these articles, and we discussed it in the garden later that day. He says he doesn't believe the "shedding" theory 100 percent and might be willing to have the Covid jab when he's had more chance to judge whether it's safe/ after more people have had it.

I think for a lot of aggressive anti-vaxxers, they're not really confident in their decision not to have the jab themselves, which is why they feel the need to demonise those who do get vaccinated (as opposed to the ones who just quietly choose not to get jabbed but don't make a big song and dance/ sell tickets.) And they prey on people like my friend, who might be more easily swayed, which is disgusting. They know a lot of people are scared and suspicious of each other, and are taking advantage of and exploiting our fear. It's nothing but divide and rule tactics. I think that's the real conspiracy in all this!

Well, that's at least a partial result, hopefully he will decide to go ahead with the jab, and make it a total result.

It's well worth watching, not least because it makes no pretence to be "balanced" on the matter. I knew of Andrew Wakefield's disgrace in this country, but not about his second coming in the States.

I also didn't know about RFK Junior being an anti-vaxxer.

As someone who was hospitalised the last time I had a vaccine, and who has been advised by their GP not to have it as it is more likely I will have a much worse reaction than be ok, please bear in mind all of you that some people simply cannot have the vaccine no matter how much they want to.

That does not make them stupid, or anti-vax.

It does make it all the more important that those people who can get vaccinated without problems should do so, though.

I doubt anyone here would consider someone unable to have the jab, due to medical advice, to be stupid.

You're on the wrong thread, this one is nothing to do with people that can't have it for medical reasons.

He lends a lot of weight to the cause just by being RFK. People don't seem to realise he's not the real RFK but his sad sack of a son.

this isn't right. before he became an antivaxxer he was the single person most responsible for cleaning up the Hudson and the waterways around NYC in general. he established a program at a local law school which has produced a cadre of environmental litigators. he's dangerous not because he's a Kennedy but because he had done enough good to finish as a legend and has squandered his name on antivaxxism. it's a fucking tragedy.

Yes refreshingly stuck the boot in

That Wakefield dick is proper bond villain shit. Shameless.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience with a vaccine. Of course none of us are talking about people who can't medically have the jab, that would be unfair! We're discussing the ones who actively have an anti-vax agenda and deliberately spread misinformation. Personally, one of the reasons I'm getting mine is because I know there are those like yourself who can't for medical reasons, and I want to do my bit in protecting you. I'm sure most people who have the jab are doing it for the same reason. :)

More self-identification with the resistors to and the victims of the Nazis.

I saw one of those very same stickers at a bus stop when I was visiting my sister's last weekend. It had been partially defaced already, but I really wish I'd had something with me at the time to finish the job. So I settled for chucking two religious pamphlets into the bin that someone had wedged into the shelter.

No house key?

Idiots.

I do think the Tories probably enjoy the control element of the situation to a point, but that's a situational byproduct that loses any convenience when you consider Bojo won't want to pay everyone's wages forever and a day.
