The Monochrome Set are back!

I wish I wish I wish!

I've learnt that playing America is REALLY expensive for bands, with work permits and other documentation costing an absolute fortune, so sadly my dream of playing NYC looks like staying on hold for now.
Touring the US is a very expensive and logistical nightmare right now :(

So Saturday's gig was a sell out and I got to play on the same stage as Kate Bush made her debut show!

I used a lovely old Rogers vintage drum kit too (with the addition of my usual cowbell and fairy lights!)

Next UK gigs are:

04/03/2017 - CARDIFF Globe
25/03/2017 - MANCHESTER Gullivers
08/04/2017 - LONDON Lexington
12/05/2017 - ISLE OF WIGHT, Quay Arts
13/05/2017 - BRIGHTON Hope & Ruin
27/05/2017 - YORK - Crescent
28/05/2017 - LIVERPOOL Music Room
That's a beautiful looking kit that is..

Shall be at the Lexington gig, that's a great little venue. Seen Wire and David Devant there, both brilliant intimate gigs.

ETA I see there's a connection between MS and David Devant.

They've got connections all over the place! I knew that half of them were in the original Adam and the Ants but I didn't know that Andy played on Dirk Wears White Sox.

We were booked into the Moon Club but then they downsized.

Shame that, Moon would have been suitably basic and scuzzy :D

(But isn't Clwb Ifor Bach a tad bigger?)

Whatever, I've almost made up my mind to come along to the Globe on the 4th March ... :)

I remember first ever hearing the band on the Peel Show! Early 80s. Will get catching up on old and newer tunes :)

There's six degrees everywhere! I know Mike from Malicious Damage (Killing Joke) through his releasing Shriekback stuff. He's also released stuff by a great punk metal band called Headcount, whom Marco Pirroni played with and produced :)

Very belatedly got tickets the other day for the Cardiff gig the coming Saturday (4th) :)

Thanks to editor for reassuring me that despite The Globe being non-central, we'll still be able to get back to Swansea after the gig (last trains westwards from Cardiff Central on Sat nights are stupidly early  )

Checking out YouTubes and Spotify atm .... looking forward!

Plus we'll get a few hours in Cardiff before the gig, we haven't been for a few weeks and the beer/pub choice there is better than here :D

Here's our upcoming gigs. Give me a shout if you're coming along!

25/03/2017 - MANCHESTER Gullivers

31/03/2017 - STUTTGART - Neue Schachtel, Germany
01/04/2017 - AUGSBURG - City Club, Germany

08/04/2017 - LONDON Lexington

06/05/2107 - LILLE, L'aeronef, France

12/05/2017 - ISLE OF WIGHT, Quay Arts
13/05/2017 - BRIGHTON Hope & Ruin
27/05/2017 - YORK - Crescent

Counterintuitively and not as you might guess, Quay Arts is in Newport, IOW, not in the more coastal Ryde. Just so that people know ...

That was a fab gig last Saturday in Cardiff, enjoyed it loads. But I could have done with lead vocals being a tad more up in the mix ...

Yeah, I heard that from a few people. It's a tough venue for sound overall though.

My fave song is and always was 'The Monochrome Set', brilliant lyrics. Despite sound issues, there were tons of other good songs and we enjoyed the gig loads.

Had to partly run post-gig at the end of our escape to the station though
But all worth the effort! :)

I'm busy the night of your London gig. Any chance of a couple of guest list places for the Brighton one??

Not sure yet, but it should be possible - message me closer to the date. Brighton will be a bit of a funny gig for me (but in a good way). I went to see them play there last year and had no idea I'd end up back in the band, playing the same venue 12 months later!

Just come back from an amazing mini-tour of south Germany. A reviewer declared me to be " Bony, weathered and with fuzzy dreadlocks, he complements the look of the quartet of musical cabins in the most pleasing way."

Well that;s what Google translate says. Maybe it reads better in German (please!)

We're playing the Lexington on London next Saturday 8th. Tickets are likely to sell out so get one quick if you want to come along - it'll be our last London gig for a while. After that we're in Brighton, York and Liverpool

That was a grand gig at the Lexington. Good crowd too! It's a really lovely venue. I wish Brixton had something similar.
