I'm firmly of the belief that some salaries are immoral in themselves. I fail to see how someone can sleep at night knowing they pocket such excessive and disproportionate sums.

Given this; tax 'em to fuck. If they don't like how much they're taxed, give the excess away to charity - tax deductable.

Of course there is a point to debating how much the rich should be taxed. Todays financial times headline was talking about "threat of exodus due to 50% tax rate"
And though its probably an exaggerated threat, rich people can move themselves and their money quite easily usually.
So how exactly can we ensure they pay more of their share?
The impression i get from most comments on the budget is that there is not really much of an alternative to what Darling has done.
There is much more emphasis on pessimism than anykind of alternative and that really is quite depressing.

I heart this place so much sometimes. Instead of dealing with particular points or arguments, if they 'sound a bit tory' then they're thrown out without due examination and the person making the argument is labelled a 'tory'.

I'd like to confirm that Rod Liddle is indeed a cunt.
I used to work with his ex-wife, and she was pretty much embarrassed by the fact that she'd married him even before they split up.
