The Bicycle Racing Thread 2015

And Dennis about to add a extra km or so the Hour record by the looks of things.

edit: Linky, linky -

Yup, a lot less 'fat' in the record got chipped away. He's only 24 too.

Quite a testament to a cycling fans devotion to sit through all of that on screen though :D

And I think Valverde just won a bunch sprint. Against actual sprinters and everything.

edit: nope, was rojas. Makes a lot more sense, that does.

Nothing worse than a sprint stage in a GT third week. Nothing has me screaming 'I don't fucking care if there's cross wind potential mate' at the TV like it in fact.

Especially in the Tour, in the height of summer when you can see full well that the weather is absolutely perfect for cycling. And that's before you consider that we now have the ability to check the weather across the whole course from our phones.

(My point was more the dullness of the sprint (with weakened/weary sprinters) after you've seen a few days of an epic gladiatorial superhuman toiling up a mountain, but yes, internet weather confirmations can further dull it!)

Nice sprint too. Skinned Guardini and the only rider who wasn't still losing ground to him at the line was Bouhanni. Apparently Bora have assigned a bunch of lads to be a sprint train for him this season.
Yup, very smart too - probably the only sprinter who didn't find himself out of position at some stage. Obvious caveats apply - early season, new sprint trains working things out etc - but looking good for him.

Yes.

Bouhanni looked fast today. He was a lot faster than Sagan and he'd have had Guardini if the race had been a couple of meters longer. He hadn't looked great in the previous stages mind you. Sagan on the other hand seems to be lacking a bit of top end speed. He's there to contest the finale every time, but there's always been someone faster. He's had a similar sort of race to Guardini, but for Guardini that represents improvement.

I'm hoping to see some of the second rank sprinters really challenge Kittel and Cavendish this year.

Crazy stuff for February
Aye, but I'm quite enjoying it.

Bardet will probably be kicking himself for trying to stick with froome though. Then again, pretty sure Carlton Kirby said he had the kom on Strava, so probably keen not to give it up without a fight.

'Kinell, didn't see that coming.

Whopping Chapeaus to Froome. I struggle to be a fan of his, though today was bloody impressive (by the the whole team too).

Bertie is mortal.

The season is on!.

This year's poster for E3 Harelbeke: because Sagan sexually assaulting a podium girl wasn't bad enough.

The impression I got from R4 this morning that they had their licence taken away, yet it seems its only been requested!

On a cheerier note I see Dame Sarah is attempting the hour record later on today and good luck to her. I see she already has 73 world records eeeek, stunnin.

Etixx fucked that up so badly it was unreal. I know sep was making then work harder than they would have liked instead of working stannard over, but 3 v 1.
