The Bicycle Racing Thread 2015

The 'three tours' stuff just wouldn't work would it? They'd all be half dead by the Vuelta..

Anyway- I've enjoyed a year of cycling, slightly too much, and will now cancel my Eurosport sub till next May.

Europcar confirmed their new sponsor yesterday. Energy Directe. Reduced budget, reduced roster but they carry on. I approve, even if they're deffo on my suspect list.

Anyone been watching the national champs TTT?

Must admit I wanted EQS to win but it wasn't to be and Tinkoff Saxo continue their run of amazing bad luck.

Can anyone explain the logic of trade teams at a national championships? Seems really bizarre to me tbh.

British team at the world's will be a great experience for some riders what with cav, groom and gee all out

Reckon that might be final selection. Three sky in there for those who care about such things.

Great race....So many jumping off the couch shouting at the screen moments in this years one dayers. Spring (and Lombardy) can't come quickly enough!

I said before the race anyone but Sagan or Matthews. Pair of fannies.

Sagan did attempt to improve his U75 standing by making a semi-incoherent plea on behalf of the Syrian Transcontinental Rambling Movement in the press conference.

Mr. and Mrs. Cavendish join MTN Kwebecker. A move for the pension fund rather than the trophy cabinet.

You cycnic! They have joined MTN to raise the teams profile, help them to attract more talent, raise the teams profile at home and the sport and help with selection for the big races!
Don't forget Delilah and Frey! :D

The Haircut has wiped his arse on his TGA contract and looks to be heading to Omega Pharma Etixx Quickstep Lidl. The main brand ambassador for Alpecin shampoo will now be Degenkolb's crap tash.

Not unexpected. He'll be on a relatively low wage as compared to what he'll be able to get from Etixx, and G-A have realised they have options and can manage just fine without him. There was talk of him leaving the team before the Tour when he didn't get picked so the relationship has been strained for some time.

I see there is yet another bleeding film out next week about the bastard, a negative one I hope. How many do we need. Why can't he be left buried in a hole somewhere in Arizona .

Has to be said after 3 weeks of watching the Vuelta, I've become strangely obsessed with Alpecin caffeine shampoo, and festina watches.. :(

Merckx says that, at least on paper, Froome has no real rivals for the Tour this year. I think he's right. What's interesting is that he actually describes himself as a Nibali fan. He clearly prefers Nibali's style (which I think is probably true of most "neutrals") and seems to think that Quintana can climb with Froome or maybe even better, but thinks the latter will get killed in the TTs. Merckx is obviously a somewhat ethically dubious figure in terms of his own career, but he knows his onions.
