I think a car sounds like the best idea.. I have to wait in on Saturday morning and an early meeting Monday morning so would not be able to take it back.. If we got it we would have it all day Saturday could go to Brighton in the afternoon . Ask Onemonkey what he thinks as he would need to collect and return.. If he's up for it then great..

i am afraid that it is very unlikely that i can find my licence before saturday morning.. i didn't find it the last time i needed it to hire a car.. however that was not a problem then because that rental company just called the Driver and Vehicle Licencing Agency in Swansea to check my particulars.

So do any of you wonderful people know if the easycar rental company will also do calls to the DVLA?

I think all rental companies do this, as long as you have proof that you live at the address on the licence. They charge a few quid too.

beach stuff: ok. we will hire a car then & pay the extra dosh to phone the dvla etc.
this will need some planning though. we need to sort out picking up ther car on saturday morning. which car hire place was it lib?
i guess one near-ish to brixton would be easiest.

Metcheck may well be right, so keep checking them for updates, but they are contradicted by the BBC who currently predict

for a certain south coast town (not Brighton, I'm talking further further east) for Saturday and Sunday. Saturday : 20C max, 14C min ; Sunday : 19C max, 13C min. (shit temperatures for July, those, so bring warm stuff!)

But Metcheck have a track record of being notoriously pessimistic, and the BBC have a track record of being over optimistic, so maybe split the difference.

Waiting to hear from treefrog whether she wants a lift or not... Don't think my little car ever had that many people in it, but I think it'll make it... At about 50mph!

Looking forward to getting out of London and going on a little adventure... Even if the weather turns out to be shit!
