The Beach is Back!

In any case, it's looking unlikely I'm afraid that Stig and I will be able to make it now :(

Not so much the dodgy weather, although that came into it, but mainly because 2 friends have unexpectedly been able to secure late tickets for the Lords Test on Sunday, and they want/need to stay with us on Saturday evening.

Stig and I aren't doing the cricket, but we thoiught it a bit off to leave our guests the keys to the flat and go away partying 60 miles away -- they're rarely in town.

The pub that Stig loves is still strongly recommended if you want to head there on Sunday. Accessible easily by train or road. PM us for name/details/location.

Where to Canterbury?

Well, possibly.. If it's going to bucket it down I'd rather be warm and dry than exhilirated and pneumatic.. But I meant to beach in the first instance. There's a long list of peeps that haven't posted back on this thread, and I want to know if I still need to offer a lift from the train station.

** Maggot News Flash **

Hot news from my telephone , Maggot tells me that there will be a primitive car-battery operated sound system

He has asked me to post this up for everyone's info

Lets hope the battery isnt flat :D

Prays for unexpected sun...

Is this going to be like the Pirate party where everyone brings a radio and tunes it to the same station :D

I have two leisure batteries in my van :)

What kind of system? Is it worth bringing an iPod?

But won't your van be a mile down the very big hill? Don't your batteries have to be run from the van?

The Simpson's Shower Sound System may well be in the house! ;)

No, the batteries are stand-alone & I've got a bag with wheels to carry them in.

But Metcheck have a track record of being notoriously pessimistic, and the BBC have a track record of being over optimistic, so maybe split the difference.

I agree that metcheck are often eager to point out 0.00001mm of rain in a region and the bbc will happily ignore a minor ammount of rain. Let's say, "a bit of rain then."

I've clearly underestimated you, Master Splinter. :D

That bag on wheels was bound to pay off sometime....

I gave it a test run last weekend. Not too good at taking corners, but I've now got a month's supply of carrots :)

Ah bugger! Looks like a no show from me! :(

I've been really shit recently, especially considering that I'm actually sitting around doing nothing most nights. This saturday I'm having to go back to uni to pick up a couple of things that I left behind.  :(

Sorry guys. Hope to see you all at offline next week though!

any word on whether the organisers want to try the radio thing maggot?

cos if so we all ought to bring radios :)
I mentioned it to an organiser, and whilst he said he would go along with it he didn't sound enthusiastic. I say bring radios and pray that CityDreams iPod has some decent music on!

By the way I have found a road spot that is a bit nearer than the original one, and it's largely downhill from there. Unfortunately it will be uphill on the way back but we should have less stuff then.

CityDreams, why haven't you got back to me about train times. Are the revised times OK?

Am ready to send out PMs with details on, but need to attach a map. Does anyone know how to add an attachment to a PM?

Give them a website to link too...

I was about to say hyperlink but very people use that word now...

Have fun you all!

Right, I've now sent out PMs to everyone with details on. Have only sent one to each couple who are coming. If you haven't recieved one please let me know.
