The Beach is Back!

This place is only accessible by foot or by boat. I think if you've made a real effort to get somewhere, you're more determined to to have a good time.
oh gosh!
i have experienced the contrary to this a couple of times, it has to be said.
however, next weekend will be different & a good time will be had. by all.
:)

there are trains out of charing cross at 15 & 45 minutes past every hour.. they seem to take about 1h35 :(

on the return they leave at 08 and 13 minutes past the hour taking about 2h10 :( :(

tickets are around 24 quid

how much was it to hire that minibus again??

heck!
do you think the two of us could squuuueeeeeeeze into iemanja's car? or someone else's...
we're both quite thin!
and we don't mind being close... ;)

minibus - £250 for 15 seater..

which is cheaper than train i guess (as long as we don't crash it and lose the £500 deposit!)

or hire a removal van from Brixton for £30 and stick a couple of sofas in the back (£30 quid each from the 2nd hand shop on coldharbour lane). Job done :D

C'mon kids!! All we need is a stretch of beach, an iPod or similar gadgety thing, a cradle for it and some speakers...a decent car system would do...

I heard that iPods can transmit to nearby radios. Is this true?

Another good reason to spend the night on a beach!

'tis true.. you need to have an iTrip. They're not very powerful though. You're bound to introduce some distortion into the signal at loud volumes - though that could just be mine.

The Mappoint map of this area is rubbish. Can someone recommend a decent map website, prefereably one which shows footpaths and other non-road stuff.

And has someone got an iPod with an iTrip?

maggot: what is the area again? and the nearest train station?
i want to check the weather forecast for saturday, too.

<gulp! :( :( >

Looking like a downturn (pre WOMAD, too  ) I'm afraid. But that's now, so will post result** tomorrow, after the update.

**(but not source, cos that would give away the location!)

I will try and come along to this from Brighton so could I be added to the list for being PMed directions. I may have a few spaces in my car/van from Brighton if anyone wants a lift. Is there any space for another small rig?
Fingers crossed on the weather.

Another rig? You haven't read this thread properly mate.

If you want to bring a rig, it will have to arrive by boat!

Yaaa looking forward to this :)
yes, me too!
we still haven't decided for definite about transportation, however the train seems the most likely, so we could meet you guys at the train station?
and xanadu, if he's still up for it?

The train or we could look into getting a car to drive down with easy car
that might be a grand idea... who would drive... you? or onemonkey, i guess.
i would, but i fear it would be unsafe.
:(
i think the prices are pretty good, if it's just for 2 days- the last time i did it was from the big place at vauxhall. about £50, i think.
it would make sense, considering the train is over £20 each and seems to take over 2 hours for the return journey!

Will look into it now

sounds like a good idea to me!

I can drive.. but i'd have to find my driving licence first which could prove tricky.. as anyone who's seen my filing system can attest. ;)

Maggot, I guess as we're staying there for a while it might be wise to bring lots of food/drink too?
