*The Archers thread

Bleeding heart liberal.
I hope he gets life with no parole.
I hope he gets one hundred years. And before you say that that is not possible, let me tell you that people in the USA have received sentences of hundreds of years, so why can't they in Britain?

In George's defence, The accident was probably a genuine accident.
And he helped save the people in the river.

Against him is that he tried to frame Alice as the driver, and kept up that story for a long time which might be perverting the course of justice.

Then there are others that knew, his mum and dad uncle Clive, also perverting course of justice perhaps?

Tonight’s episode a cracker
I thought it started strong but the ending felt a bit anticlimactic and potentially leading to Ed forgiving Emma having intervened to get her to make nice with her parents. Also mid listen I did wonder if Mia was going to transfer to Felpersham and stay with Brad...

I think the writers could (should!) have made the entire episode just about Alice getting the news. Plenty of drama in that alone...

Wait until the jobs start drying up for the tree surgeon work and they realise nobody in the village wants to employ them.
No work and £20k to have to repay to William.
No money for fancy lawyers so George is going to prison.
Clarrie and Eddie have to find out what their grandson has done yet. Poor Clarrie.

Such a mess, the ramifications and bad blood will go on for years.
George Grundy is the new Clive Horrobin.

Yebbut, how divisive is this going to be? Not everyone is going to automatically condemn him. There are plenty who have no time for the entitled Archers.
And some of the Archers themselves are possibly going to be sympathetic. Maybe even Alice herself.
Not Brian, obvs.

Harrison almost came to the realisation that he'd be a terrible father.
Far too quick to anger.

I was looking forward to Harrison having to eat his words about Alice but that was dull, but I am looking forward to Justin Elliott though he is so teflon coated I bet he will slime though it without a ruffled feather. Shame.

I can almost hear Eddie now: Oh, he's not such a bad lad. We all make mistakes. He's only young. And he was so brave, going in to rescue everyone.
And Clarrie will say: Oh Eddie! How could you! It was so wrong, what he did, framing poor Alice like that!
Eddie: What do you mean, 'poor Alice'? She's an alcoholic! He wouldn't be in this mess but for her....

etc etc.

You would have just outed yourself as a scriptwriter if it wasn’t for the fact that the archers isn’t scripted and is real

I heard the voices reading that!

I wondered if Harrison might end up with Alice, but the prospect of Alice getting together with someone who's half-Horrobin is a good one.
They seem to be signalling the possibility but I'm not sure I could take any more of Sgt Burns panting and squelching. It is all too revolting to contemplate. And all the recriminations from betrayed Fallon and crestfallen Christopher! But I hope expect the scriptwriters are just teasing.

With George's moment with Neil tonight I started to wonder if there was going to be something on young men's mental health. Of course I also wondered if Brian dying of an angina attack about George's behaviour would be an aggravating circumstance. Brain was truly predictable today!
