There's a tutor/mentor scheme starting next academic year to help students catch up after having missed months of school.
I'm considering applying, for a few reasons:
However,
- the pay is rather hopeless (£19,000) - although worked it out and it's so low that I wouldn't have student loan deductions and also wouldn't pay much tax.
-Is it aimed at new graduates? Will I be the oldest and most experienced person there?
Does anyone have any other suggestions for me, or know any more about this scheme?
I'm considering applying, for a few reasons:
- My current job ends at the start of September and I have nothing lined up.
- There are very few jobs around - I've applied for a few and have been rejected or not heard back.
- I've been teaching English (as a foreign language) for 12 years but haven't been into a UK school since I was at university.
- I like the idea of helping students on a one-to-one basis and not having to deal with a whole classroom of teenagers.
- They are looking for people to specialise in English, and it would be good to get more familiar with the UK curriculum.
- I imagine it'll be from October - next July, by which time, the world might have calmed down a bit and things could be more certain.
