Taskmaster

I chose to watch it live on Sunday over HV, which is one of my fave shows of all time, and I enjoyed it. Farah has never struck me as boring, and he certainly wasn't on this show. I'll take Vorderman over Warsi (last NY episode) any day, at least she rarely appears on TV any more

What's HV?
 
I expect that comedy actors won't be as funny as comedians, which clearly isn't the case with Kiell who is excellent. I feared I might find Jenny Eclair really irritating because I have in the past, but she was an enjoyable chaotic energy, long may that continue.
 
Kiell sucks at the game, but he is undoubtedly the star of this series. (...for me!)
Mae comes off as the only one who's actually watched the show before, but still can't get ahead of Ivo. They're quite sweet.
Frankie bringing in hardcore gay superhero porn is exactly what I expected.
Jennie isn't normally my cup of tea, but I'm warming to her in this.

I love the Ivo/Frankie dynamic. They seem to actually like each other despite being completely different character types. They just don’t understand each other.

Kiell is my favourite, but yes I’m warming to Jennie too. She normally gives off too much of a Su Pollard vibe for me, which I find irritating. But seeing her genuine glee to have potatoes falling on her head was lovely.

I have found Jennifer elciar annoying in the past and the sue pollard reference has hit the nail on the head with why. but so far she's been OK. loving the series so far. Greg Davies is a funny fucker.
 
Really interesting that everyone else is having the same experience as me with Jenny. I haven't always been a fan of her work in the past, but she's been genuinely very fun to watch in TM :D

What's possibly the most surprising, though, is she's currently in first place for the series! :eek: Purely in that way that, if you're not paying attention to the scoring, you can develop a different impression of how people are doing.

Yeah, likewise, only knew him from Ghosts, where he's funny but in relatively lowkey, supporting role. Have really enjoyed discovering he's a genuinely funny guy.

One thing I thought was interesting is there doesn't really seem to be anyone filling the 'obvious loser' role. Points-wise Kiell really suffered in the last ep, but in the prev. two he was only 4 and 3 points behind the winner.

Maybe he and Frankie will end up trailing behind a bit, but even so it definitely doesn't feel like they're in the same mould as others who have just continually struggled.
 
Only my family would have an argument about how to compile 40 words like they did in TM this week. In the end we had to actually do it. :rolleyes:
Anyone else have to complete some of these tasks?
 
I'm enjoying the current series. The tasks are slightly less complicated than they can sometimes be, which is more enjoyable, and I like all the contestants - even Frankie Boyle, esp him being beaten up by his own children. :D

We did the snort-whistle-raspberry task. I am a champion at it! So proud.
 
I’ve got the task book that my mate gave me but I haven’t played any.

My friends did boobs or bums with the disposable cameras at my wedding. I’m guessing that’s similar to sausage or finger? 😄
 
It's actually a pair of marigolds with a couple of sausages pushed through. You then have to poke someone in the back and they have to guess whether it was a 'sausage or finger'. :D

Kiell seems like a nice enough guy, but I find him extremely difficult to watch. He looks and sounds like he is constantly breathing through his mouth (or something) and it makes me feel a little bit sick. I know this is my problem and not his or anybody else's and don't feel he deserves my revulsion, but it made Ghosts quite difficult to watch and I have found myself giving up on this series of task master too (though I think I was finding it a little boring anyway and the 4oD player has been temperamental lately).

I agree. In the first series the tasks were very simple; empty this bath of water the quickest, make this huge lump of ice dissappear the quickest, get this huge fake boulder the furthest away from the house in an hour.
Loved that type of task
