I watched it for the first time last year.

A group of us were going to watch it this year, in one of our houses. (Not mine, Mrs Sas likes her kip undisturbed.).

:(

Fuck it, it isn't as if I have to be up early tomorrow, I'll sit up and watch it.

Anyone else planning to watch?

Is it tonight then? I might do - not that I understand or particularly enjoy the game. Takes longer than cricket doesn't it? At least feels like it.

About four hours, of which circa twelve minutes is active play.

I wasn't a fan, until someone who understands the game watched it with me, and explained what was happening.

The one time I actually tried watching it was that year they had a power cut and everyone had to spend even longer than usual just sitting around the pitch in the dark while they sent someone to go down the cornershop and put another tenner on the meter or something. I'm reluctant to ever watch another one now, I can't see how they'd top that.

Can Mahomes dethrone Brady? I reckon so.

yes, though technically it's brady who'd be dethroning mahomes.

Petee's Pick:

the chiefs o-line will need to be huge against the buc's #1 rush, though mahomes can squirm out of almost anything if they break down. more importantly, reid and his DC steve spagnuolo will put in a system to frustrate the canny brady. it was spags, then the giants' DC, who stunned brady in 2008 by beating the patriots in the super bowl after their record-setting, undefeated-until-then season.

chiefs, but not by much. on paper, tampa might just have a smidge more talent.

Will only say this once: jesus fucking christ, look at how many people there are. Touching surfaces all over the damn stadium, getting progressively less inhibited.

Jolly good...

The teams have been well bubbled, somehow the AFL have got it right and there were only two matches cancelled throughout the whole season. Tho that stadium is by far the fullest of any I’ve seen.

Aye, it was the stadium I was talking about. Can't ignore the fact there are notoriously more players and other team staff in NFL than any other sport, but figure we'll all have made our peace with that somehow, and also that the professionals will be taking precautions.

Every time the feed goes quiet they're advertising a drink or a mortgage company or something

More and more reasons I don't like this game :(

It seems like capacity is limited to about one-third, so around 22,000. UEFA allowed teams to have 30% capacity for the Champions League last Autum with 15,000 at the Super Cup. There are a lot of cardboard cutouts, so maybe that's why it looks fuller?

I get it's not exactly the same team, but weird that Kansas City are the ones conceding all these penalties given they're defending champions. You'd think if anyone was going to be making nervy mistakes it'd be the newcomers.

Seriously! They just gave away a penalty for that FG attempt, which immediately led to a TD during which they conceded another penalty.

S'like watching the England rugby team.

Commentators agreeing with you now :)

I keep expecting to see people flagged for unnecessary roughness but then I realize that's what they're supposed to be doing :(

The fuck is going on with KC??

Are they getting screwed by the officials at all, or is they just completely doing it to themselves?

I’d say we can go to bed now. But I said that four years ago and that turned out quite interesting.

I will be avoiding Th Wknd though, obviously.

Yep I think the highlights of the second half will take up a full 12 minutes tomorrow and I'm not sure I can stand the half time songs about America the Wonderful. :(

Eta: sorry about all the cynicism I don't do well with extravaganzas :(
