There’s lots happening:

Demo outside Amazon’s London HQ

Demo outside Amazon’s Manchester HQ

12 noon at Hanover Building, Hanover St, Manchester M4 4GW. GJN’s youth activists in Manchester are organising with climate and trade union groups in the city.

Support the pickets at the striking Amazon Coventry warehouse.

If you’re nearby, head down early morning to Amazon BHX4, Lyons Park, Sayer Dr, Coventry CV5 9PF to support the striking Amazon workers.

Host an outreach stall or creative action in your area

The best opportunity for outreach will be on the busy high streets on Black Friday (and the weekend that follows it). We’re inviting groups to run stalls and chat to shoppers about why we should Make Amazon Pay.

To help with this we’re working on a satirical newspaper detailing all of Amazon’s crimes – to add a touch of humour and help make the flyering entertaining as well as educating. We’ll be presenting it as though it’s an Amazon publication, celebrating all the terrible things they’re doing as corporate wins. You can be as creative or theatrical as you like in your outreach (or not, if you prefer a simple approach).

Get in touch to order copies of the newspaper, for tips on banners/placards messaging, and ideas for props to make an engaging stall. Contact us at activism@globaljustice.org.uk

Amazon workers will be striking again around Black Friday:

No idea why Unite links don't format properly.

This is just disgusting. Fatal motion withdrawn due to no support from Labour and Lib Dems, but particularly the former. Labour are completely finished for me:

Is this the law which proposes to remove the right to strike immediately you join a union?

I've heard about it through other union reps, but there appears to have been very little coverage in the media.

First attempt to use the new minimum service levels ends with ASLEF 1, LNER 0:

Train drivers call off extra strike days after LNER minimum service law U-turn

Workability of new law in doubt after threat of action pays off for Aslef staff

The train drivers’ union Aslef will stand down its five days of additional strikes at LNER after the state-owned operator withdrew plans to impose minimum service levels during next week’s industrial action.
LNER, which runs trains on the east coast mainline from London to Scotland, had told Aslef it intended to use the controversial new laws to run trains during the initial 24-hour strike called for Friday 2 February.

The union then said it would strike for another five days from 5 to 9 February, which it has now rescinded in response to the climbdown.
The minimum service levels legislation passed by the Conservatives had not been tested until now. Ministers have been privately lobbying train operators to use the new powers during rolling strikes across England next week.

LNER, which along with Northern and Southeastern is run by the state’s own operator, had been under particular pressure to impose minimum service levels, compelling some drivers to work during the strike and run a minimum 40% of the usual timetable.
While LNER has not publicly confirmed its plans or retraction, the apparent U-turn throws further doubt over the new laws, which rail industry bosses already feared could be unworkable.
No other train company has confirmed whether it would attempt to use the new laws, but it is understood that none have yet started the formal process of consultation ahead of issuing notices obliging staff to work.

Wirral Unison Clinical Support Workers strike set to run from Monday 29th- 8.15am on February 8th. It'd be nice if there was information online somewhere about this I could link to, but that's what I've heard via whatsapp anyway.

Isn't it obvious from the recent Tube strike that was suspended that a big week long total strike is more effective.
Why is ASLEF pursuing these intermittent strikes with various overtime bans, it's not effective? it's dragging on for ages........
I don't even know how long this has been going on, can someone inform me?

Good question. I know the overtime ban is very effective because none of the train companies employ enough drivers and rely on worker overtime to fulfill their timetables. But the one day intermittent strikes does appear an odd one.

although some train companies are cancelling a heck of a lot of trains on overtime ban days to piss passengers off (while blaming ASLEF) more

But the one day intermittent strikes does appear an odd one.

dunno really - it means there's a 'week of train strikes' while each member is only on strike for one day. the RMT strike (or was that the underground one?) that got called off was going to be similar but different, with different staff grades each coming out for one day during a week.
