Stormont's jacket on a shaky peg...

The man who recruited McGuiness into the republican movement, Mickey Donnelly, apologisies again for it here .

Recruiting Martin McGuinness ... My Biggest Mistake : The Pensive Quill

Mickey was one of the original "hooded men" . The guinea pigs for the various anti insurgency torture techniques in the early 70s ....his comrade Sean McKenna was tortured so badly by the army he emerged a broken man and died soon afterwards . Not that this status stopped McGuinness sending a squad wielding nail studded baseball bats to Mickeys house in the late 90 s to break his arms and legs after Mickey publicly criticised him for becoming a Stormont minister .

That's the type of political peg Stormont rests upon.
As you can tell from the interview transcript there's little sympathy from MD for either Stormonts or McGuinness shaky state of health

Graphic ccount of that particular act of ministerial overreach here .

Martina Donnelly : The Pensive Quill

Mo Mowlam jokily referred to this type of thing as housekeeping , and made clear ordering such things while in ministerial office was fine as far as HMG are concerned . And indeed all the polite political parties tacitly encouraged it at the time and for years afterwards . Critics were beaten , abducted, stripped , interrogated , intimidated, maligned . And even murdered . And in the south of Ireland pretty much interned en masse , sentenced to years in clink often on nothing more than a cops opinion they were a bad lot . While polite society, journalists, political commentators, politicians and governments ...both sides of the Irish sea and the Atlantic.. nodded approvingly . Those were dark days for republican critics of the stormont shit show I can tell you .

Problem was is being anti GFA kind of meant more years of armed conflict which wasn't going anywhere:hmm:

and the problem with being pro-gfa was that it meant selling out any republican principles which had once been held, not to mention taking something very similar to what had been offered many years before.

I'm trying to expunge a hope that his end is prolonged and very painful, because although in a karmic sense, he richly deserves it, it is poor on my part.

Some people are getting very excited by Little Ian's gesture here...

It stinks of course of opportunism, the start of a DUP move against Foster? Nowt shocking about the kind words after all Marty and the Ians were/are buddies, lording it up in their castle.
