The problems of anti-Semitism and homophobia are arguably (as in East Germany and some other "Iron Curtain" states) artefacts of Catholicism combined with Soviet social mores (the old tish about homosexuality being "decadent" etc) as much as being a product of Poland's integration into modern Capitalism and any tensions such integration has caused.
