Simon And Garfunkel

cornflakes??!! how dare you!

I just think its a dull song done badly. Much of the album is great. That piece leaves me completely and utterly cold.

fair dos, opinions and all that. what do you make of his version of 'in my life'. i think that's easily the worst track on the album.

I like 'Bridge Over Troubled Water' and 'The Boxer' but apart from that I'm not into the Bridge... album. It sounds like a duo past their best and running out of ideas. Besides, 'Cecilia' is on it, and that's the one song of theirs that is truly unlistenable.

I prefer their earlier stuff. Sounds of Silence is a lovely album. :)

my thoughts are rather similar, tho i recall it does have a really good bit in it, not that i can remember which offhand.

aw, keep the customer satisfied is a great song. and i really like the tenderness of 'the only living boy in new york'. especially when you know the back story.

but, yes, generally it's not their best record. and 'sounds of silence' is definitely the one. 'somewhere they can't find me', 'we've got a groovy thing goin'...great cover too.

Can't forget The Boxer.
I can't listen to that, it makes me snivel. I like Simon and Garfunkel, I don't know why, by rights I shouldn't as they are everything I hate (sentimental, saccharine, squeaky, obvious etc) but I can't help it...

I don't realy like 'Keep the Customer Satisfied.'

'The Only Living Boy in New York' is a lovely song, I agree, but I'm sure it's not on my (old vinyl) copy of Bridge Over Troubled Water.

Ooh, it must be, unless you have some priceless faulty pressing.

Tis a fantastic song though.

A letter in Viz recently said that if you cover Paul Simon's face up to his eyebrows from below with a finger it looks like Garfunkel has a huge Mexican style moustace :D

I've just had a look, and it is on there - which shows how long it is since I've listened to that record!

The Only Living Boy... is on a compilation I've got, though - and yes, it s a beautiful song.

<goes off to put some Simon and Garfunkel on>

hippyish

folky

sappy (at times)

I love em

my musical tastes range from Fairground Convention through Radiohead, via The pogues, turning right at metallica, megadeath, Maiden, Saxon and Judas Priest, dips down to Deep Purple back up to Flloyd, Jethro Tull and The Levellers and then on to S&G

oh and I also like ambienst stuff (the more hippyish stuff like Astralasia, and William Orbit)

An not forgetting some of the classical stuff I listen to too...

But if I wnat some nice mellow, middle of the road, not going to offend anyone music I put S&G on. MAkes me relax

I heart Simon and Garfunkel, I do.

Only Living Boy in New York is my favourite tune though.

The Only Living Boy in New Cross
is miles better though innit?

I live the song Scarsbourgh Fair and even Mrs.Robinson---But America is a good group too, in fact I think I'll listen to them right now.

When I was little it was one of those albums my mum had, with all the lyrics on the back (Dark side of the Moon was another I remember) and I just loved singing along.
I find I still know the words to all the songs today, and it's wierd 'cos only the other day I was thinking about buying the CD.

So Long Frank Lloyd Wright made me want to find out who this Frank Lloyd Wright fella might be and I thank them for that.

I don’t know any other songs about architects.
