Seriously Good Looking Guitars - The Guitar Porn Thread

Love these:

Even this one?

gibson-flying-v-2.jpg

It is smooth as anything to play and (like a pillow?) and the pick ups are monsters. It is a bit feeble considering it is supposed to be a rock guitar though.

it looks cool, i don't like that it is easy to play and falls apart though. as for sound, i don't know that i can tell the difference between electric guitars really.

was always more of a fan of the explorer then the flying v. If your going to get a silly shaped guitar it might as well be very silly.(without being a nu-metal monstrosity)

This is the one true guitar. In acoustic mode (sometimes I play it wired up). She is called Sarah after a friend from long ago, because she is blondeish, sounds good, and never shuts up (I've never encountered an acoustic with significantly better sustain). Sorry there isn't a better picture readily available.

It makes a difference on recordings, but maybe not so much as a new set of strings and the right eq, (which are a heck of a lot cheaper). When I tried it in the shop compared to lesser models, it stuck out a mile. I wasn't even going to buy a guitar, I was just window shopping until I heard it.

You can tell that it is a fuck of a lot louder, however volume knobs on amps level the playing field there.

The explorer has already crossed the line from rock to metal. It looks shit.

Can I cast another vote for the 'Gibsons are shit' proposal? They cost a fortune, weigh a ton, have stupidly chunky frets and sound like a proper guitar being played underwater some distance away.

I have a flying V. It's lighter than all my fenders and has the slimmest neck and least chunky frets of all my guitars. It definitely doesn't sound like it's being played underwater. It has a clear bright tone.

As I keep mentioning and annoying the fuck out of Suplex for it, the Fender Stratocaster looks and sounds far better imo.

Better than what. It looks shit, is too twangy and has a fat arse neck. Here is mine.

Except my is not a reissue.

This is not twangy because it has different pickups, plus the neck is better.

That's what Mick Green used to play I think.
Nice

They all have the uses. Teles are good for playing country and jangly indie, les pauls and SGs are great for rock and strats are perfect for accountants who like to have shite widly widly blues jams at the weekend.

Yeah but it's a flying V so you look like a twat when you're playing it.

The Telecaster is clearly the superior guitar.

Exhibit A.
Exhibit B.
Exhibit C

That's been done before the strat players were:
Hendrix
Peter Green
I could mention Clapton, but I won't.

The tele player was the guitarist in Status Quo.

:D

I'm after one of these if/when I get another job

or this, which is utter filth (in black but i cant find a small pic) and only £120 more expensive (still less than a monkey), but I fear it may be a bit too twangy

btw, how do hollowbodied teles sound?

I love my Tele even though I can't play any more.
Classic!
And a Jag can sound like a Tele.

Indeed it can, and a strat. It's pretty damn versatile with it's two completely separate tone and volume controls, plus the seven (not counting off) bottom pickup selectors combinations.

Wayyy heavier than my Flying V, as is my Tele (which is a little lighter than the Jag).

But . . . A, it looks good, unlike the ibanez
and . . . B, it's not an Ibanez
lastly . . C, it's a Gretsch

Almost certainly shitter.
