Self-indulgent pet thread

That's weird. What is the 'point' of any pet?
Pets are pets. You can't get all utilitarian about them! Their use is their companionship and their decoration

I think she meant their original purpose and my dogs are traditionally working dogs and bred for herding.

I thought pretty much all dog breeds had a purpose and a role they were bred for? not sure about the crested doodah in your previous post but Im sure its good at ratting! or keeping handbags warm?

I half expect rudeness from a human doc's surgery receptionist, but from a vets? I would NOT be pleased.

Has anyone ever downloaded computer games for their cats/dogs/frogs/lizards? Breeze thought this one was great for all of what, 5 minutes.

Yeah, try paint for cats. Ghengis loves it but is like a toddler- I have to ration his time on it or he gets all hyper and won't settle after playing it!

actually should take more recent one, his colour point is coming out now!
what breed is your "ex" cat? Oran utang?
I think your's is a bit darker than ours in the face, but ours has started to darken at the back- he has pale seal patches on his rump. Gorgeous cats :)

I'm not sure what breed she is. I always assumed that she was a not quite pedigree seal point Siamese, but this has been disputed

She doesn't look Siamese to me.... I don't think they come so dark, and she has a long face, but not the boss-eyed and evil look many Siamese have. (Apologies Siamese lovers...) May have to ask my vet friend and see what she thinks

Vet says ancestry probably Burmese not Siamese based on shape of head, ears, and eyes not being v blue. Possibly bit of Havana in there given colouring

She looks exactly like the seal point Siameses in google images though. And she is blue-eyed and boss-eyed, it's just hard o capture in photos

"No good for anything?" They're both working/herding breeds and she's a bloody idiot for not knowing that! I can think of a multitude of uses for them, cuddles being the main one. What I like about the breed descriptions of these two is that they're described as "happy-go-lucky". What's not to like? That thing with the lugs is fugly, yours are not. They're absolutely adorable but you knew that anyway.

Yes he's getting darker patches over his tummy and back. I'll have to take a more up to date photo of him - when I see him again. He's getting big as well!

: D I'm slightly besotted.

Cuddles are tops although the OES will only snuggle for a bit, the Beardie can sleep on you for hours and will let you do anything to him really.

My grandparents Beardie was very tolerant of many grandchildren dressing him up in nans underwear etc : o

The crested is my mother in laws! I do love them just because they're a bit odd and he's a lovely natured boy.

I like my dogs hairy and scruffy though.
