Secondary school syllabus on history/politics

My grandson was taught about the Cuban Missile Crisis in history, and was astonished that I had lived through it.

Wait til he gets to the Peninsular War, you can show him your service medals

I honestly can't remember what history I was taught in school and what I have learned since. I suspect the curriculum has changed somewhat since the 60's/70's not least because there has been another 50 years of it.
