The original pitch (ie thinking up a possible use for a humanoid robot so they could get DARPA funding) was that you could test hazmat suits or body armor through the full range of human motion without having a fragile human inside. So the joints are (were? it's obviously come a long way since the start of this thread) where a human has them.Interesting that they’ve built them with the knees that way round.
Not sure whether it’s a matter of being good for procuring funding, or whether there are longer term aims around making them fit well into military infrastructure designed for humans.

That's pretty cool, though the 'imitation' thing in the middle video is a bit disturbing. Only need one robot to go rogue and attack humans and the rest of them would follow suit.
