Re. the BBC, there was some guy who, being very old, said to them "look, I know you'll have an obit on file for me anyway, so why can't I be in it?", and then he did appear in the "Remembering the Life of Bloggs" film. I can't remember who it was, though.

BBC, ITV et al have obits that are prepared months, years (in some cases) ahead of a big name passing away. Every so often, they are updated. In my Irish broadcasting days I remember we had a Sinatra obit, a Pope obit and a few others knocking around.

The BBC did a great documentary called Five Years a few years ago about his different personas and musical styles. I hope it's shown again
