The Cranberries first album really has a strong memory for me. Me in my bedroom with my Amiga A1200 and joss sticks burning, either battling with Sensible Soccer or working on the ever crashing DTP Pagestream software. Funnily enough, I thought of the album only yesterday and was going to play it later. It was a cracking debut.

Never my cup of tea back in the 90s but listening back she had a beautiful haunting voice. May she RIP & thoughts to her family & loved ones.

She has a fantastic voice. I wasn't a Cranberries fan, but I did like her voice (not as much as I like Sinead's)

Can't believe it. Although they band was never considered essential by the music press (and they really went to town on "Zombie") there's no denying that powerful voice. Very sad news.

Blimey. I never realised the video was so popular. It's great though.

"Zombie" was released with a music video in October 1994. The video was directed by Samuel Bayer, and produced by Doug Friedman and H.S.I. Productions.
As of January 2018, the video has over 650 million views on YouTube, and is one of the 250 most viewed videos on the site.

Zombie was written during the Cranberries' English Tour in 1993, in memory of two boys, Jonathan Ball and Tim Parry, who were killed in the IRA bombing in Warrington earlier that year

Oddy enough, "Zombie" seemed to be a covers band favourite when we were in Bali.

where I was listening to the Cranberries too only minus the joss sticks but playing sensible soccer or kick off and using Amiga Deluxe Paint great memories of the first album too and continued following her

So very sad was always a very open person and I have a lot of respect for her for that and speaking out as well on lots of issues same as Sinead probably got them both into problems and pressures that have affected their health

Oh how sad, I loved Zombie back in the day - especially the Adam featuring Amy remix, a real 90's dance anthem.

She did suffer a tough life. Sexually abused for four years as a child, anorexia, she burnt out during the 1st stint in The Cranberries, suicide attempts, an accident that left her in a lot of pain with years of physio, sleeping pill addiction, father died, marriage collapsed, air rage incident and arrest, depression, break downs, struggles with alcohol. She fought hard to overcome all of these things.

She has four kids too.

Very sad.

likewise, i didn't know that - i met her many years ago when the band were just starting and they played a gig in Tamworth, which she was not happy about to put it mildly (can't really blame her, there was only about ten people there.) sorry to hear of her passing anyway, RIP.

So in this early Irish version she was just 18 and someone said the guitarist was just 17 they all must have gone into the music business straight from school and then pretty much full on

Likewise. Really, really didn’t like them back in the 90s but can see now that she was talented and probably, from reading reports anyway, a very cool person. Sad news anyway, I understand she had kids.
