Rinse FM

I really liked this little dancefloor shuffling thing from Wookie last year:

but that track with the break in it had a little early jungle vibe... mmm!

Have you got any Zed Bias picks Steph? I havent heard anything new from him in years (but know he's done lots since)

Not kept up with him particularly, he seems to have dabbled in everything from dubstep to house, drum'n'bass to hip-hop in the last ten. For me, it was all about his late 90s/early 2000s sound.

I really love this jazzy housey tune from his recent doublepack though...

Looks like they were one of those stations you had to pay to play on (subs note)

I think most of the better, more organised stations have always taken subs. Helps to pay for a decent supply of back-up transmitters!

(According to this, £1 in what must have been the very early days! I bet it soon jumped to a tenner!)

On that photographers website, I love the picture of the fruit machine in what it looks like a chill-out area outside the studio! :D

I played on net station Interface for not very long and it was a tenner on there too... I think I heard Don was £10.. Kool was free...

Compare that studio from 2006 with the one from a couple of years ago!
I think they're in the Truman Brewery now - is that what those pics are? Ive caught that Marcus Nasty show a few times (Wednesday evening i think ) - hyper show

Mrs R has the car radio permanently set to Rinse, some good stuff on there. She went to their birthday bash at Brixton Academy a couple of months ago, a top night from all accounts. There was some proper dark business on there the other Sunday when I was driving, any idea what it was? Very slow, heavy bass, broken/non-existent beats, crap description! :D

I've never listened to rinse..... do they play bassline at all?

Cant find any radio stations that play bassline and newer genres of dance....... apart from sub.fm every now and then....

ha ha :D reminds me of the first time i tuned in, i was in a car at about 2am going across town and it popped up on the dial - had never heard anything like it before - dark, heavy, skunked up to the eyeballs - not sure if it was even called dubstep yet - first time i was ever truly shocked by music, thinking what the hell is this shit?! but happy to hear it...and a bit scared :D

This wasn't dubstep, or at least if its a variant it's a pretty distant cousin. I'll try and look it up.

I didn't really get dubstep at first, in fact I remember getting roundly castigated by Dubversion for calling it 'like jungle but with no bollocks'. A mate took me down a to a couple of DMZs at Mass and once I heard it on a sound system it made more sense.

I've heard bits in sets, but then tbh bassline isn't really something I've ever listened out for much.

Rinse used to have a show quite a while ago with someone called DJ Paleface who played speed garage and bassline (also put out a Rinse mix CD). Does EZ still play bassline on Kiss?

You see, i want a radio station that I listen too........ most of the stuff on kiss is tripe, and I think im well out of the area for rinse.....

I listen to sub fm every now and then, but its internet only :(

Kanji kinetic does the mutant bass show on there every few months, with guest artists..... lots of bassline in that.

The really need an offmenut show..... I love the stuff on that label.

Hmmm, wasn't bassline or grime, though it probably morphed from that area. No lyrics, no 4/4 drums, just the sparse wonky bass and err space noises :D
