Reporter and cameraman shot dead during live TV interview in Virginia

He doesn't believe anything he's saying, can people stop rising to it? You could have all the facts in the world and nothing will stop the derail. It's professional contrarian bollocks.

Unless you're enjoying arguing for the sake of it, in which case carry on.

I wouldn't have looked up those stats if he hadn't. They surprised me

Exactly. Because they have the highest rate of legal gun ownership in the world, their gun crime rate is relatively low. And as we've seen, the same correlation is found among individual American states.

I am not typing out ALL the countries where gun crime is lower you cunt.

well then I refer you back to the UK, England and Wales the same 6.2% legal owners as Honduras, yet only 0.07 gun deaths. 1/45 of that in the USA

The USA is admittedly an anomaly. Taken as a whole that is--as I've shown, the individual states reflect the international trend.

But the high gun crime rate in the USA must be be explained by other factors than widespread legal gun ownership. For one thing, crimes are rarely committed with legally-owned guns.

Prohibition is not the answer.

the second lesson of militia club is never fight a tank in the open

Depends really...here we see the indestructible merkava on the plains of southern Lebanon

how much gun crime is it in fact deterring? e2a: because you're not comparing like to like. what's the population of colorado, for example, and where are they - rural / urban? much more hunting i would think in colorado than in new york.

but the main thing is the right to bear arms wasn't a constitutional amendment because it would deter gun crime but to prevent an overweening and arbitrary government, to allow the people to form militias. i don't see much evidence of a citizen militia in the united states formed to prevent rights being abridged: militias in the usa seem to be more lunatick right wingers than anything else.

Citizens militias can be right wing fucknuts, but even they have rights . Even though that Bundy ranch guy was a prize prick I for one was pretty happy to see the Feds being faced down . They were running about like they wre in Iraq just over one old farmer and a few horses . Rights were definitely being trampled on there , that was actual tyranny . Even if it was directed against a racist wanker . Placards and posters would just have been laughed at . Hundreds of rifles weren't .
Previously too the legal approach taken by the original black panther movement asserted some fundamentals too . And if I was a black man in certain parts of the united states gun ownership would be a definite priority for me . Whether for defence against racists or criminals from my own community . In fact if I lived in the states at all I'd have a gun by my bed frankly .
I was also reading a bit a while back about the aftermath of hurricane katrina , were white racists were basically out hunting blacks . The black community had been demonised in the racist media as looters, while whites in the same predicament were " foraging for essential supplies " . And so bands were basically out hunting them . A white anarchist got in touch with some black community leaders , they all got tooled up and gave the message to them and plod . The shooting stops or they shoot back . It worked . In their neighbourhood at least .

Personally I think firearms are so embedded in American culture there's no more chance of banning them than there is banning burgers . There'll always be a populist demand for them, and that equals votes . If a laws passed it'll just be overturned later . Also if I was a yank the likes of piers Morgan lecturing me on gun control would just make me go out and buy a massive fuck off gun to spite him .

That is what happens when your general staff is arrogant enough to assume that their enemy won't have ranged-in their artillery to blanket your route with shells.
What fucked the IDF over even more, was that Hezbollah had dug their artillery into revetments and/or sited it in caves, or used mobile artillery, making it much harder for the IDF to locate and destroy.

I love that you're rolling your eyes at someone who was soldiering when you were still in short trousers, and with a decent rifle. :)
BTW, I've never played Call of Duty or any other 1st person military shooter game. No point.
how dare the SA80 was the finest engineered rifle ever made honest *

*. Can I stop doing press ups now?:D

Must be early onset dementia if he thought stealing a tank was a viable idea its probably broken down anyway:p

The prototypes were finely engineered. Unfortunately, the production rifles suffered the usual MoD money-saving "ideas", including switching from milled to stamped components, and changing the type of polycarbonate used from a more rigid hard-wearing one to something more flexible that would start cracking if you took the rifle off of the rack.

So you nick the (inevitable) tank-transporter instead!

I can remember a teenaged casually red and his chums the afternoon we first noticed the trusty old SLR withdrawn , and that new fangled plastic thing being toted by a patrol of marines around our village in its stead .

" hi boy..what the fucks that ? "

" is that thing a gun ???...hahaha..."

One angry marine with his back to us spun round really quickly , obviously to fire off a barbed retort or give us a stern lecture on the capabilities of this fearsome cutting edge killing machine that was the envy of infantrymen everywhere . And the magazine fell out of the fucking thing with a clatter .
And we rolled about on the ground laughing .
Teeth were gritted on the return to base...I have little doubt of that . Possibly even buttocks clenched . But not a word was said .

We had an officer while he was who was picking the susat scope that had fallen off approached by a local IRA man who claimed to have nicked a load of the UDR but as they were shit do you want them back?:D

Should have made a massive effort to sell them to the third world so helping world peace cant really fight a vicious civil war with a pile of junk and even the bayonets toss its doesnt even make a decent club:rolleyes::facepalm:

It's like somebody gave Andy from little Britain some Lego , and half an hour later asked him what he'd made

It's a gun !!

Yes, but are you sure ?

It's a gun !!....I don't like it

The A2 works it should as its weight in gold was handed over to the rhine dwarfs of hk to fix the wretched thing.:hmm:
1st designed in 4.85mm to win the nato new ammo comp as the yanks used 5.56 never going to happen.
2nd a quick redesign didnt work so ROC stole the ar18 design off sterling and bodged it into a bullpup.
3rd Maggie sold off roc to bae who looked at the sites and decided hmm nice place for yuppie flats oh my the way workers once this gats built sling yer hooks, strangely that didnt produce a quality product not that bae gave a shit:mad:

Michel klashnikov got shown one when he visted the uk god only knows why you'd that bloke builds a legendary assualt rifle and you show him a piece of crap, his comment was "you must have very clever soldiers"

Only the indians have managed to create a worse weapon the inas all the faults of the sa80 plus a tendacy to spit hot oil into the unfortunate firers face:eek::facepalm:.
One excuse given is the indian rifle is ideal for making sure india doesnt start something with china or pakistan :hmm:

Mind you america has set aside 1/2 billion dollars for a new pistol, which should be a simple thing but they want a modular combat system of enhanced lethality and accuracy. Last time they tried that they got the MK23 of splinter cell fame very accurate very powerful but the size and weight of a small car not exactly a plus in a handgun:facepalm: HECKEL and KOCH built the handgun to special forces spec unfortunatly US special forces cant write sane specs:D
