Rape, sexual assault and harassment in the entertainment industry

It’s hard to imagine Armie Hammer will work anytime soon, given the recent scandal - though no sense any of it was non consensual, the “rape/abuse fantasy” aspect is getting his name mentioned in Me Too contexts.

Glen Medeiros spoke out, unafraid to rock the boat since hes been out of the industry for a long time.

He also mentioned the other unmentionable:

"The other thing is, the music industry is riddled with a lot of drugs, and the Mafia is very much a part of the music industry," he said. "A lot of people don't like to talk about that, but it's out there."

Some artists sold drugs, while others had their houses, cars and other expenses paid for by the Mafia, who in effect "owned" them, Medeiros claimed.

"So they were basically being pimped out, for lack of a better term. I don't know why more people don't talk about it, to be honest. I guess I'm out of the industry now, so I can just clearly say, 'Hey, this is what I saw.'

With some bands/performers, it's the usual case of accusations and rumours that were ignored and finally get caught up in a bigger movement such as #MeToo. Then others, it's not even hiding in plain site, like the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. A singer who admits he's a rapist and writes fucking songs about it and then other band members who have assaulted women on TV and at gigs (and generally were known for assaults throughout their career). Why are they still a band with a recording contract? Answer, money and an industry that doesn't give a shit of course. As an example, I wonder if all that history came out now, would they be dropped by... heads off to look... Warner Brothers? A quick search suggests Manson has been dropped by Loma Vista.

Well that just goes to show how little I knew about the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. Mind you, I was never into them in a big way, just liked a couple of their songs.
