Oh god, just checked my dissertation title from 6 years ago -

"Porking the Myth: Representations of Sex, Gender and Power Dynamics in 1980's Teen Comedies"

I was such a twat

Turned out to be the only piece of work I did at Uni that got a mark above 70 though

Please say it was all about the Porky's movies? ACES!

I knew a girl who did her Phd thesis on the ethnography of loyalist drinking clubs.

I told her she should call it 'Butchers on Parade'.

They did form the majority part of the discussion yes, particularly focused around the fact there's far more male nudity in them than female, thus representing the average teenage boy's greater interest in their own body than those of girls

Also - Animal House (not 80's I know but it did start things off), Fast Times At Ridgement High, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Pretty in Pink, Breakfast Club.

Plus a few thousand words at the end looking at the legacy in more recent teen sex comedies (American Pie, Road Trip, etc).
