Pizza

wouldn't bother with the capers, they'd just get in the way of the beautiful combination of chili and pineapple

I love capers, I often add some to basic supermarket pizzas.
I reckon the saltiness would offset the pineapple well.

(Just wondering how many people we're upsetting with the direction this conversation has taken in the last few posts :D )

I don't like pineapple on a pizza, but I'm always surprised by the amount of opprobium it attracts. There are all sorts of sweet/savoury combinations I don't like -- most of them, actually -- and they get a pass.

It’s true that I’ve never seen pineapple on a pizza in Italy, but I have seen ham and sliced peach. Not tinned peach, but still peach. It’s not that different.

I generally think cooking strawberries is a very bad idea, jam aside. (Although the best jam is blackcurrant). Strawberries and chocolate also do not go and people who think they do are probably smokers with no operating taste buds.

I'm not sure what Italy has to do with it. I know they invented pizza, but they don't have a monopoly on what works and what doesn't.

Pizza with chips is common in Italy: Pizza alle patate fritte Even Homer nods.

They don’t. I wasn’t arguing they did. If you follow the construction of my syllogism you’d see that I was in fact arguing that it wasn’t logical to allow peaches but not pineapples.

Pizza and chips is correct. And people who disagree must be philistines, Tories, or Timmy Mallet fans.

Then why not strawberries?
Pizza and chips is correct.
You can't expect to be taken seriously after that. I went into a depression of several months after reading about how it was popular in Italy.

BBQ sauce on pizza is next level wrongness.
It’s a very good indicator though. If a restaurant/takeaway has a build your own pizza and offers barbecue sauce as an option, then you know to go elsewhere.

I often order an espresso first in cafes. If it is bad, then the food will also not be prepared with care and it’s a good idea not to order food.

I prescribe flooding.

Not much in to sugary things with savoury. The worst offender on pizzas, however, is not pineapple, but BBQ sauce, Domino’s especially. Vom.

I accidentally picked up a BBQ meat feast pizza in the supermarket the other day, I'm honestly not a massive fan of BBQ sauce in the first place (as a separate thing, I mean I'm OK with marinades and rubs on BBQ'd meat!) and the pizza was rank - I couldn't finish it :(

I'm not afraid of pizza with chips. I just have tastebuds. Double carbs isn't a guilty pleasure; it's no pleasure at all.

You are mistaken on several counts: You are afraid. But it can be cured. Your tastebuds are malfunctioning, but can be trained. And multiple carbs is normal. It would be an unusual and unsatisfying meal in which you are not deriving carbohydrates from several sources.

Putting chips on a pizza is disgusting. You were born in the UK, so you were probably brought up on all kinds of rubbish, and so perhaps deserve more pity than condemnation. But there is no need to continue the cycle of abuse.

There was a restaurant in my youth that offered moussaka, rice and chips. We've come a way since then, but there is still a lot to be done.

See my last pizza post. I have been there and tried pizza with chips on only last week.
I will try almost anything once, but never again for pizza and chips. Even though it was on a thin base it was far too much.
Next.
