It’s both.As far as mixing goes, it's an art not a science.
Here's another. I'm particularly proud pleased with this
I use Reaper although I've barely learned it, I just spend time making music. What DAWs are people using BTW?
For me it's Reaper. Insanely good value and powerful.
Depending on budget, the Arturia keystep is fab. I recently got the new ‘37’. Absolutely love it.Can anyone recommend a good cheap midi controller keyboard with a mod wheel?
I have an Akai LPK25 which is proabbly about as basic/cheap as it gets but it's playing up and I think I'm going to need to replace it. Can't really afford anything full size or flash though, thanks
Sounds good, I have a lot of Arturia plug ins, thanks to them allowing license transfers, but this is a bit more than I can afford unfortunatelyDepending on budget, the Arturia keystep is fab. I recently got the new ‘37’. Absolutely love it.
Doesn’t have an actual mod wheel though, it’s a ribbon.
I think they made a lot of good choices when it came to getting the right balance of compromises in their keystep devices. I like their choice of key size and how their keys feel, and the mix of other features. They are wildly popular for good reasons.Depending on budget, the Arturia keystep is fab. I downloaded a demo of the Cherry Audio vst synth PS20, modelled on the Korg MS20. Their products are really cheap and pretty good quality. Unfortuantely, being a modular synth, I cannot wrap my head around the patch panel
All of Moog’s iOS synth apps are currently free: get the Minimoog, Model 15, Animoog and Filtatron for nothing
The Model 15 also runs as a Mac AUv3 plugin in Logic and GarageBandwww.musicradar.com

use an Akai LPK25 little midi usb keyboard. It's not terribly flash but it does the job.
However recently I have been having problems getting it to work. Nothing has changed between sessions and it doesn't matter if i'm in the DAW (Reaper) or a standalone vst. I have to continually disable/enable and reset midi devices until it starts to register. Until then for no reason I can see it doesn't connect. No midi signal. It could be hardware or USB based, I have no idea, but the keyboard is consistently receiving power through the usb (i get a light indicating by pressing the octave button so i can see there is a connection).
yes, should have mentioned. The shitefest that is Windows 10Windows?

I don't think Windows is the problem here. The keyboard was working fine up until recenlty. I've had it 6 months.Have you tried rewinding W10 back to those times when it wasn't fuckin wit ya?
Send it back! Or at least contact manufacturer. Should have at least a year guarantee.I don't think Windows is the problem here. The keyboard was working fine up until recenlty. I've had it 6 months.
I could try, but I'd have to isolate the fault. I think it's either my usb connections, or the keybaord itself somehow. Could be a loose wire for all I know. I'm not sure it's the USB since it seems to draw power ok, just doesn't register midi sometimes (no awesome music when key is pressed).Send it back! Or at least contact manufacturer. Have you at least tried a different usb cable? That’s quite a common problem.I could try, but I'd have to isolate the fault. I think it's either my usb connections, or the keybaord itself somehow. I should upgrade anyway and get a better keyboard, but that's going to require a bit of saving up. Unless that nice Mrs Coffee decides to give legacy benefit claimants the same uplift as everyone else.
I bought it from Amazon, I've no idea what the guarantee is for that. I can write off the loss tbh if I have to
It's usb but requires a proprietary cable due to the shape of the port on the keyboardHave you at least tried a different usb cable? That’s quite a common problem.

I think it's that. I don't have another so I can't test it.Its probably still one of the USB standard connectors, just not one you are used to seeing. eg USB mini-B.
