On this thread, we like synthesisers.

Little jam on my favourite homemade wavestate patch.

Dunno why I bought the wavestate, it's great for programming complicated patterns and modulations but I mostly just like finding a nice sound and playing tunes with it. With a bit of tinkering though you can get some lovely organic-sounding things out of it.

Nice.
I never record my noodlings. Once I’ve done a thing and realise it might be worth recording, I can generally never do it again.

Yeah I'm the same. Or if I try and record something I'm never happy with it. Trick is to just record audio, not midi so there's no prospect of fucking about and 'fixing' things.

Ha! Just had an amazing realisation.

Music; allowing you express that which is in you, by different means.

Well, recording midi and endlessly tweaking, editing and generally making no progress absolutely expresses my low self esteem and massive insecurities :D : D

I actually feel really good about that realisation.

Had a recording session with a mate earlier that was getting a bit tedious in terms of programming/editong

Jammed a part out on analogue synth going through a bunch of pedals and whatnot, both tweaking like crazy and studio headbanging

Load of raw “unique” audio to chop up and the usual happy accidents that occur - we got some big airy pad sound that was just a reverb tail rather than an actual part… hit record when you jam 😎

How did you get on with the stylophone / theramin?
It was a pre-order. It hasn't arrived yet. Not heard anything from them.

They finally released it for sale at 5pm this evening, and I've spent the past 6 hours trying to buy it, but their website is fucked with all the traffic. I got as far as checkout and PayPal about 100 times, only to face a fail after pressing the pay button. Now PayPal have blocked my account due to suspicious activity
Fuck that. I wanted one but I don't want it that badly.

Have had a MicroKorg for the best part of 2 decades. I love it and use it a lot, but have always felt I'm not using its full potential. I meant to spend this summer wiping it and creating my own presets to my personal needs but that obviously (and somewhat predictably) got undermined by diy and other odd jobs around the house. I also think it slipped because the process of building up those sounds can be so daunting! I told myself that I'd do research into how to do it and learn some of the theory but I think I need to out a bit of structure into my learning so it doesn't become just another faddy idea!

Anyway, this thread is great. I love reading about everyone's synths even if I have no idea what half the conversations are about.

lol yes, I prefer reading about this stuff than actually making music, it seems :D

Anyway, I don't know if this might be of interest for you...

Thanks for the link! Never realised Dorian Concept used the MicroKorg but this video is a great showcase of how fun it is to jam around on!

Seems I managed to get one. Only another 8 or so weeks to wait.

The novelty will have well and truly worn off by the time it arrives.

More
Our EU shipment was planned to arrive by 9th October. However, this morning, we discovered it won’t land until 31st October, as such, your Theremin will reach you around two weeks later. We know this isn't ideal, but once they land, we will do our absolute best to get them to you as soon as we can.
I can see this getting shoved into a cupboard and never opened. I've moved on with my life now.

I have the Theremini and its main use is allowing pupils to make spooky noises for our school Halloween events. Added bonus is trying to explain to them that they need to begin by being away from it and control how they approach their hand. They usually just try to grab the antenna.
