Olympics 2024 - General Discussion

Got home from work, put mens mountain biking on catch up. It gets to the 45 minute mark when it changes channels and that's it. Just as it was hitting up. Given his puncture, great result for pudcock.
Now watching the boys skateboarding.

The men's skating commentary is worth the license fee alone.

That lipslide to the front foot catch fakey on the 50 was brilliant. But the backside noseslide to fakey.... fucking hell.

The bit where the arrogant little sod falls off his skateboard is the bit we want to see in slow motion afterwards ffs. Not the tricks that went okay.

Would be better if the live feed would actually show more routines though. Just had the commentators describing Jake Jarman's high bar routine while the pictures showed a load of gymnasts from the other teams just sitting around

They don't have a choice in that, the olympic broadcasting company control what is shown, and they'll always focus on the teams at the top of the board. They'll get access to the footage though and show us anything particularly good that we missed at the end.

You can see the afternoon stuff on iplayer menu.

Doesn't come as much of a surprise - it's being blamed on the rain which also affected the opening ceremony

Men's triathlon postponed due to poor water quality

The Olympic men's individual triathlon at Paris 2024 has been postponed after tests revealed water quality in the River Seine did not reach the required standard. The race was due to start at 07:00 BST (08:00 local time) on Tuesday and will now take place on Wednesday at 09:45 (10:45 local time), following the conclusion of the women's event. Swimming training sessions were cancelled on Sunday and Monday because of the water quality, which was impacted by recent heavy rainfall.

The mountain biking is a curious event. There's few chances to overtake on each lap, and some of it appears to be just a procession of riders in single file.

Whilst the top few can challenge for medals, it must be depressing to find yourself in 25th position halfway through the first lap, knowing you've got to keep going for another hour in a train of riders. It doesn't diminish the huge achievement of making it to the Olympics but still
